Yes, I have a filter.  The filter didn't appear to be clogged but I replace
it anyway.  

I feel much more capable of getting the carbs mounted back up to the air box
now I've had a day to calm down, lol.  I'll give it a shot after work today.
I'd still prefer filter pods though.
