Oil leak from foot gear shifter?

I purchased the shift shaft seal today for $5 bucks at the dealer. I tilted the bike to the right side to prevent oil spillage (With my brothers help),I removed the shifter from the shaft then  the old leaking seal with dental picks and a small screwdriver( Not as easy as you might think). I put grease on the inside of the new seal, slid it over the shift shaft and used a mallet and a socket with the same outside diameter as the seal and tapped it into place. GUSTO! No more leak. It took about an hour to make the repair.

It looks like spraying off my seal with carb cleaner may have "repaired" it
for awhile.  No leaks at all with lots of shifting doing the jetting
changes.  If it starts to leak again, I'll report on the change out
procedures that were shared.

I'm glad this is being tossed out again.  Charles got a little tidbit of
info as well as others that I don't recall being posted before.  It's not
like he led anyone to believe it was a question about a new subject.  Just
ignore if it does not interest you.  Much like the NGPZC posts.  Some I
read, some I don't.  I say keep it up, but that's just me.....
