removing emissions stuff

Can someone walk me through exactly what emissions components I can 
remove/tweak on my 2003 SV racebike?  I've heard that the cannister in 
the tail of the bike and all the hoses can be removed along with some of 
the other stuff on the airbox and some valves... "connect a resistor 
here" and "so-and-so sells a plate to cover this".  Specifics?  My 
Google-fu is weak.
