Clearance?

I race at a small track in Canada. I don't use 6th, just 5th down the
longest straight (not very long) and 3rd through most of the infield. I
imagine I will keep the 16, but was just wondering about clearance
with the 17. Using the current exhange rate VPs U4.2 cost me $12US
per gallon and that was even by the 204L drum. The 20L pails are 
about 50% more :-(
