This turned out to be water in the front spark plug. Very odd for me. I'd always heard tales of this, but I used to ride my '02 in the rain religiously and it simply never affected me. (when I say religiously, I mean that if I walked out my front door and it was raining I took the motorcycle to work instead of the car)
