Clearance issue with Sharkskinz

It also dawns on me that stock SV650 uses a 120/60, while the GSXR uses a 120/70. 
This will probably mean a higher fender relative to the axle for the GSXR front end. 

Combined with the GSXR being overall shorter forks, this is starting to sound like 
the source of the problem.
