Something wrong there, Jo. I've never had to remove the sidestand or any 
emissions stuff to remove/replace the shock.

Just remove the dogbones and the lower knuckle and the shock comes out downwards.

On my '01 all the emissions gear is in the original location. When I mounted my 
GSXR shock I had to grind a bit on the knuckle because the shock is longer, but 
no mods necessary to install a Penske.
