On a Gen1 the part of the starter clutch assembly that bolts to the ignition 
rotor
weighs ~640g and is uses 6 bolts. If you were to replace that with a piece 
that
only weighs ~140g would it be possible to use only 3 bolts?

I have no idea how to measure things like the required clamping force and 
any
other factors that would be involved in such a decision.
