wtf to avoid freezing?

I wish I could, but it's pretty much impossible at this house. And wouldn't go over well with girlfriend.

I suspect this is going to keep happening (freezing temps) for a while, so a good long-term plan is needed.  I'm thinking that my future garage should be well insulated.
