Back on land, the next day, Phil and I took the KLRs out to Punta Abreojos (Open Eyes Point). The rain had left the road in poor shape, and here we had to ford a bit of water.
This was a piece of cake compared to a few days earlier, when we encountered a flooded vado in one of the towns. I rode my GS through it on the pavement, and had the water wash my feet off the pegs, and kicked up a bow wave as high as my headlight. Phil and Debb skirted the deep part thanks to a bunch of locals waving them through the easy way.
