B means 12 mm.
P - projected tip type. This field is optional and may be blank.
R - resistor plug. This field is optional and may be blank.
8 - temperature range. Lower number is cooler, higher is hotter.
E - 3/4" reach
A - special type. There are many special types defined.
9 - gap measurement code. 9 means .035" if I remember right.

Another common plug is DR8ES-L.
This is 10 mm, resistor, temperature "8", 3/4", standard type,
and my NGK book does not explain what an alphabetic suffix means.

If you must know all the possible values/definitions,
hassle me some more and maybe I'll bring in my NGK book and
type it all in.

You should move up one temperature value for
extended high speed riding, or so says my shop manual.

-----
Robyn Landers | "Any profit should go to Arnie's `get the
rblanders@math.uwaterloo.ca | daemon carved on Mount Rushmore' fund."
Denizen 0051, KotV4 | - Marty Albini, DOD0550
VF750S Sabre (his) FZX750 Fazer (hers)
