Thanks for all of the ideas. I'll try them all.
I like your idea Don about rolling back the air cleaner boots the best.
I have the CA model. The air cleaner looks to be bigger than the 49
state air cleaner and therefore probably has less clearance to move it back.
I think I'll try it with a hair dryer or heat gun.

You are right Tom about looking like a dork at a stoplight.
I had to use the choke to keep it running at about
3k rpm. Otherwise it just died. It was even worse when the engine was cold.

I'll report in when done.
