It could be:
- as said: the connection.
- or the  sensor itself.

I would take then sensor from my ex (-GPZ ;-) ) and exchange it with the 
one in your engine.
If the light stays on, the way to the pump could be clogged up. Knowing 
you and the way you treat your GPZ i would say: unlikely . But: one 
burst up to 11'000 rpm?
If that doesn't work you'll have to open her up...
