Zeller) Date: Sat, 18 May 2024 14:15:34 -0500 Subject: GPZList Digest, Vol 172, Issue 1 In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: The Michelin series is now just called "Road", and the current version is "Road 6".  It's hard to imagine a better tire, especially in the rain.  And they last. My GPZ had Bridgestone Battlax tires its whole life but if I still had it, it would get Road 6s nowadays. However, an honorable mention goes to Pirelli Angel GTs.  I had a set on my VFR and they were probably the equal of the Michelin Road 5s that had been on there previously and they went 13,000 miles before I finished them off on a hot track day. My Blackbird came with the Pirelli Angel STs; not sure what the difference is, but they are doing a great job on this very fast motorcycle (that more or less replaces the GPZ, even the same color). It would have happened more frequently if I wasn't so religiously dedicated to adding StaBil to every tankful of the E10 garbage fuel that passes for gasoline these days. The pilot cleaning is the easy part. In my experience, the most finicky part of reinstallation is getting the two inner rubber airbox boots and circular spring retainers back onto the carb intakes. If you need to curse while doing this, I'll understand and am available to discuss if you need guidance, reassurance, or simply someone to curse with. Good luck, Bill in Yardley, PA William K. THIS!!   There were some other bits of hard-won List wisdom when replacing the carb rack:- Loosen the air box and pull it back towards the tail for more wiggle room- Loosen the throttle cables for more slack- If your carb boots are still flexible enough, roll them back for more room (I also slid the springs down from the mouth of the collar down to the narrow part so they don't slip off or go flying) Good luck!
