Problems:
I had to have the ball bearing race replaced by dealer at 12000 miles, no damage as it was caught early. You could hardly tell which bearing was bad once the original race was removed, but I could feel it easily on the bike. Change the rear drive oil every 6k or once a year whichever is more frequent and use synthetic.

Comments:
I. Went through a Michelin Sport Pilot rear tire almost, high speeds and over inflation might be the cause. Currently leaking oil after a service last week, the dealer thinks mabe the bolt is cracked from being drillled by him for wiring on track days.(replaced with new oil bolt) Still trying to dial in the suspension.(forget it I want Ohlins) Tank bags don't work for me on this bike as I like to lay on the tank at speed and when it's colder. It appears to get stronger with miles, pulled the front up yesterday with out trying as I shot across an intersection, thinking of adding a stabilizer. Center stand removed and rear wheel stand ordered, I will use the center stand for long trips. I still love this bike, hard bags.

Problems:
*Rear pivot needle bearing worn at 35K miles. R&R with optional bushing assembly. Bushing wore after 12K miles and replaced with original needle bearing. Lesson learned. * Hard starting when temp below 40 deg F. Laser chip fixed this problem.

Love the bike. Does everything well. Have done 600 mile days without problem. Reliable and gets 52 - 55 MPG

Still going well 80k on original clutch, burning oil a bit more now but still within BM specs, paralever bearings went again at 66k. New Dunlop Roadsmarts a revelation, maybe not as long lasting as the Mich PR2's but I much prefer quicker drop in and mega grip. Carbonne Lorraine Pads my preference on the brakes

Severed it's own fuel lines Polished the clutch spline (twice) Severed it's own wiring loom 2 sets of forks, a set of calipers and the front engine cover all due to rust. Rear differential exploded. Front wheel shagged due to the wear on the disk mounts x 2.

I had what I believe was the original battery go dead without warning (difficult to bump start an oilhead); replaced with a maintenance free/AGM battery; experienced final drive big bearing failure@26,000 miles and replaced it myself; second big bearing failure occurred@36,000 miles and used new re-shimming technique to repair final drive

Comments:
First oilhead I have owned and ridden - handles very well with good lower end grunt. Have ridden a K12RS for 5 years/50K miles and the R11S is as fun without the extra weight. Something about that twin aftermarket exhaust sound too. Completed a 6K, 3 week trip to SD, WY, UT, and CO in summer '08 and the riding was great. After 36 months/28,000 miles the bike still looks, sounds, and handles great.
