Now GPS - do you need one

I actually have a GPS, just a Garmin Exterra.  Don't use it much.  I bought 
it to check the height of land on an island where I bought a cabin on 4 
acres.  I wanted to be sure there was at least an acre that was above the 
100 year flood plain.
When I turn mine on it flashes a warning--pack lots of food and ammo dummy, 
cause when the batteries die I'll have you seriously lost. I don't get lost 
as I just have to follow the trail of gear I have jetisoned as I try to 
lighten my load.
