keel hauled ?

The deletion of the mid-controls on all the VRODs is an ongoing dialog on
1130.com. I believe the "D" was the only other VRSC with them but all "R"
models have them, along with less rake and the Showa inverted forks. For a
big heavy bike (like the GPZ is lite!) it does pretty well. I haven't taken
the VRSCR to the strip yet but hope to yet this year. My butt tells me it's
probably ~ fast as the GPZ but probably a lot quicker off the line. As far
as comparing further to the GPZ it's a ongoing conversation going on in my
head. The GPZ is quick, practical, nice looking, etc. The VRSCR is quick,
not so practical (all that chrome) and has a unique "grin factor". I left
my GPZ stock on the engine but the VRSCR has the Thundermax closed loop fuel
injection and a Rinehart 2:1 drag pipe. I don't need a laptop and a serial
port to "tune" the GPZ but it sure is handy on the VRSCR. I figure right
now I'm in toy-mode with the "R", like I was when I got my GPZ a few years
ago. My GPZ has a corbin, stainless lines, muzzy advancer, stainless engine
and fairing hardware, and a Givi tail trunk, so I went nuts buying
everything I could for it when it was "new" back in 2006 when I got it.

I think both bikes serve a unique purpose and given that I tried to sell my
GPZ when I got the R and had the similar luck of others on the list, I'll be
keeping it.

Cheers,

John

I have an '08 D, I needed the mid controls, which they have since
discontinued. I thought about this bike for years before buying one. I like
the R as well which I believe has less rake and the inverted forks. I have
heard the R handles very well. How do you like yours compared to the GPz?
