adjusting chain off the stand

The chain has the longest path - that is the tightest when the 2 sprockets 
and swingarm pivot are in straight line.
When the swingarm swings either up or down from this position it loosens the 
chain because the path is shorter but only minimally ..The more omportant 
thing if adjusting an older chain is to find the tightest spot first before 
making an adjustment or you'll have a chain that vibrates as rotates to the 
location where it is overtight...
