Armchair diagnostics- hard warm start

Could be the battery, I replace mine every 2 years because it clears up
"mysterious" ignition problems. Have you checked the carb boots? Tight
against the head and tightly clamped around the carbs? Do you have the caps
off the pilot screws? Start turning them out 1/2 turn at a time until it
starts easier. BTW, don't touch the throttle on cold or hot starts. Pumping
the throttle does nothing because there aren't any accelerator pumps on the
