GPZList Digest, Vol 69, Issue 3

The heavier passenger would have caused more swingarm travel. If the chain
had been a bit too tight, it would have gotten very tight everytime you hit
a bump and the swingarm went to maximum travel. That could have caused the
chain stretch in portions.

Well, that's the frustrating thing. The chain has less than 11,000 miles,
but it *is* the original chain (as far as I know - I bought the bike with
fewer than 3k miles on it). Rotating the wheel by hand and checking for
tightness at several places does reveal more inconsistencies than I remember
on other chains, though.

The spacers on the rear wheel are in the right spot(s), but there's no
denying this bike has become very sensitive to chain tension.

Rear sprocket looks really good, as does the chain itself, but I also know
these aren't the most reliable measures here. I've not pulled the cover and
looked at the front sprocket yet, but that's got to be next on my list.

I'd still love to know the relationship between taking a heavy passenger and
the sudden onset of the problem. Of course, if this caused a tooth to shear
off, well, there ya go. Will get to this some time this week and report
back.

Thanks to all for your input!
