Engine will not operate off choke.

Thanks Randy,
I am also thinking along those lines but the question is if it is being starved for fuel application of the choke will not make a difference, no?
Or will it?
With the choke fully engaged I've even ridden it for some distance with no problems except the huge amount of revs.

so far every time I have encountered this problem on various cars, motorcycles, it was starved for fuel, some restriction somewhere, even had a "new" fuel filter not flowing good on an older Harley, have seen rubber hoses deterioate from inside & flake off & partially block fuel, have seen dirt & trash clog screen in tank, have had petcocks where rubber seal flaked with age & use & was causing problem, that was on old Harley. have had excessive rust keep clogging fuel filter on an old truck. it could also be trash has blocked jet inside carb(s) .

based on what I have seen in my past, I would chase fuel flow problems first.

Later,
Randy

Hi Guys,
Sorry to change the subject but I have a problem and would be grateful for any help from y'all.
On Sunday I started the ZZR 1200 with full choke as usual but when I released the choke the engine will not respond to the opening of the throttle but coughs and dies.
If I re-apply full choke it responds to the throttle being opened wide, no hiccups, full power just extreme revs. even blips of the throttle get the required response. Just as long as the choke is fully applied.
Any ideas?
The bike had stood in the rain during heavy downpours we had in West Texas all through the weekend.
So I disconnected and used spray cleaner on all the connections I could find, including those hooked up to he fuse box and the igniter, the fuel pumps (the ZZR has two), the coils.
I cannot decide if this problem is electrical or fuel delivery.
Being able to rev with full power with full choke seems to me to discount fuel filter or fuel pumps/delivery issues.
What do the wise ones opine?
Thanks.
Randy from New Orleans.

Gents,

Ignore my previous post about the headlights, the discount is no longer in
force and the selector guide is totally screwed up.  Sorry, but I just
determined that the bulbs I bought for my truck were wrong (thanks to the
defective selector guide) and the H4's are not dropping to $20 at checkout.
