no probelms when roosting, touring, or otherwise. left mirror is buzy at idle, right is clear. fork seals went at 13K. no problems since.

Comments:
Love it! ABS rules!. Tons of tourque! I have debated selling it the last 4 years, but you can't replace its sport-touring features for the $$$$ I bought it for new. Not the perfect commuter, but the luggage really helps out here, and for sport touring. Works well on twisties. I prefer shaft drives, but the chain has been good, minimal adjustment, i use maxima chain wax.

UNI filter, Progressive fork springs, shortened turn signals, Kevlar brake pads, Sargent seat cover, Factory Configuration 10 jet kit. Complete 1989 front end and matching rear wheel.

Problems:
Some cracked plastic from a tip-over. Minor cosmetic problems. Needs the notorious second gear fix. Missing the chin cowling, since replaced. Initial problems with drooling carbs, fixed by repeated cleanings and replacement of main jet o-rings. Leaky clutch slave; fixed - easy repair.

Comments:
Bought it in May for $1500 and rode it home in the rain. Looks good, runs good, gobs of mid-range. Pretty comfortable, too, and I'm 6'3". Stock brakes seemed a little weak for a bike this heavy, Kevlar pads and a change of fluid made a big difference. '89 calipers should be an improvement. Progressive fork springs are much better than stock and relatively cheap. The Factory Pro Config 10 jet kit eliminated the flat spot off-idle - the bike runs much better. Highly recommended mod. Great bike...does everything well...

Problems:
2nd gear,clutch,original valves were fried after only 40,000 miles including 10 seasons of hard drag racing.Engine has seen 12,500 rpm more times than I can count.All factory original parts & the valve cover did not come off for 10 years.Damn near bullet proof.

"Wallered out" the set screw slots for the ignition pickup, and advanced the base timing 3 degrees. Drilled out exhaust ends with 8-1/2" holes per end. Drilled out carbs. big jets one drill size.

Problems:
Tach it up a bit, shifting too early will cause problems. Wind it out, and feel the tranny "fall" into gears! Nice.

Small crack on right side fairing. Rear fender cracked. Other than that took it for a short ride and it was smooth. Also found a fuel leak, turned out to be a $1.20 fix by simply replacing the fuel line from tank to split hose.

Love the beast. More comments to follow once I experience the FJ a little better. Nov 5 and 7 were nice days in Edmonton, clear dry roads, temp around 5-8 c. I took the bad boy out for about 150 km run. Man what a nice ride. This bike is everything I was looking for, now if summer would just get back here.
