My first street bike and i love it. Way more power than the 120rear tire can handle. It is a little jumpy in stop and go traffic but once actually moving it is great. Pulls hard all the way till 10. I didnt know a 600 2valve four could pull so hard...

Bikes Owned: lost count

Accessories: krausers
Modifications: bought the bike in july 2001, its a japanese home market import and I did not realise it was restricted till after I had purchased and rode it I realised it didnot have the top end rush normally, IVE GOT ANOTHER FJ1200,also registered on this site so I know how they go. In order to make the bike perform uk spec I had to get another igniter unit as the one on it was retricted to 120 mph or 6000 rpm, if you disconect the speed device in the speedo then the rev limiter kicks in @ 6000rpm so theres no way round it fortunately Ilocated an igniter box for£50.00. The next thing was jetting mains and pilots aprox half normal £60.00 from yamaha then inlet rubbers resticted so they were replaced with uk spec. airbox intake half blanked so I cut away the blanking plate. finally exhaust, only 20 mm outlet as opposed 23mm 3xw or 26mm 3cv or 1tx so Idrilled 8 mm holes at rear end of pipes and now have the required performance so anyone out there beware jap imports they are severely restricted.
Problems: none other than the mods I made

Canary Yellow/Black 1985 FJ1100 (Updated: 2002.4.20)

Tires: Dunlop
Owner: Adam Lang
Email to Adam Lang
Location: Australia (Eastern) -- Sydney
Experience: Been riding off and on for 10 years.
Bikes Owned: 3
Accessories: Gearsac rack.
Modifications: Previous owner resprayed the tank gloss black, and the rest of the paintwork canary yellow! Sounds bad, but looks good. The tank colour matches in with the recovered seat.Rear hand rail has also been sprayed black. Also after-market mirrors have been fitted to the sides of the fairing, replacing the stock handle-bar items. Smaller aftermarket indicator lights have been fitted to the front end of the bike. My FJ sounds strange, but looks suprisingly cool.
Problems: Cracks around anchor points on some parts of the fairing. Fuel needle jumps around. Windscreen vibrates lightly at speeds greater than 120km/h.
Comments:
Other than a few minor problems, this bike is a screamer! This is my second FJ1100.After I sold my first one in 1996 due to a small cash flow interuption(1985/original paint),I always wished I still had one.Well,6 years later I found one at a good price and couldnt resist. At first the sight of the bike, it looked like a giant wasp, but once you check it out,it grows on you.

Blue-White 1991 FJ1200 (Updated: 2002.4.18)

Modifications: Gustafsson windscreen (4" taller than stock), Stage III with individual K&N filters and stage III jet kit, Kerker white tip exhaust, wider CBR aftermarket mirrors. I also raised the rear end of bike by an inch and a half by installing shorter dogbone stuts on the rear suspension linkage. This gave the bike a much sportier look and feel. The bike now handles great with much quicker turning.
Problems: Leaky fork seals. Simple repair costing about $30. Not bad for a 11 year old bike with 31,000 miles.
Comments:
I love this bike. I can think of no better all around bike. What other bike can be used for commuting, street/sport riding, and long distance touring. Gotta love that wide power band too!

Experience: I've been riding for 16 years
Bikes Owned: 11
Accessories: Corbin Gunfighter seat, tankbag
Problems: Going into first gear feels a bit harsh - going to have it checked out this week by the dealer...
Comments:
I looked for weeks and couldn't find one for sale in So. California. I called dealers, looked in the papers, etc. I came across what appeared to be a very clean bike on fj1100.com - in Park City, Utah (on the Wyoming border)! I emailed the owner, who sent me digital photos. I bought a helmet, a tankbag, hit the bank, and caught a flight to Utah. The seller picked me up at the airport. To my delight, the bike was PERFECT. I bought in, spent the night at the seller's house in his guestroom (very nice of him, I thought) and left for Los Angeles the next morning....in the rain! 750 miserable miles later (from being cold, wet and then as I hit Nevada - sunburned...), I rolled into LA. I joke that if I had to ride it home and THEN buy it, I may have been cured of my want of a motorcycle.
For Sale: Does anyone know what happended to my bike? I sold it, the new owner sold it, and then he sold it. Rumor has it it was wrecked - please tell me it isn't so! If anyone knows what ever happended to my bike, please let me know! Thanks!

Experience: 20

Modifications: Zero Gravity windscreen, after that it's all stock except for the paint job that was just finished...Dark blue pearl w/white cowl scoops.
Problems: When down shifting, the shifter will not select the next gear down unless you slightly pick up on the pedal first. You here a little "click" and then you can go down again and repeat the whole process...a real pain (probably an expensive one too). It seems to be "catching" on something on the way back up. Sounds as though it may be popping out in 3rd gear also...you can hear quick rev chirps once in a while. 2nd gear was done before I got it. Anybody got any ideas on this one?
Comments:
Tons of power and good handling. Very stable feeling. Seat could be a little more comfortable...may upgrade to a Corbin. Front forks are a little soft at their max. setting.
For Sale: Not at this time

Bikes Owned: 2

Modifications: I got the seat recovered last year. Looks great.
Problems: Ok, so some asshole knocked my bike over with his car 2 weeks back. It broke the clutch handle and scratched the front left faring and scoop. The bike really used to look good for an 85'. I am extremely dissapointed.
Comments:
I am in a dilemma as to whether I should keep the bike or sell it. The mileage is starting to scare me but the bike runs so strong now. The cosmetic damage is annoying as well. I don't know if a paint job is worth it.
For Sale: $2200. Read the comments on the bike. Recently knocked over on the left side so cosmetic repair is needed to front left faring. Still runs great.

Problems: Clutch reservoir leaks, fuelmeterhand jumps around, speedometercable was loose.
Comments:
The bike had been used as a home/work engine. The guy I bought it from wasn't much of a cleaning type. So I spend my whole sunday cleaning, polishing and restore black paint items. I've road the bike from the buyer to my home. It ran smoothly, a little of track between 2500 and 3500 rpm, but for the rest it ran perfect. Even managed to get a 8500 rpm in 5 and had speed over. Cause the speedometercable got loose I didn't got the exact speed but it felt very fast.
