Problems:
Front rotor rivets gave up, so both rotors were replaced under warranty at 7,500 miles. I was lucky (I guess!) not to have gotten a "ticker." (At least not at 41,000 miles.)

Comments:
What a great motorcycle. My first "big bike" was a 2000 Concours, which proved a great, dependable machine, but it doesn't compare with the FJR. I've taken two trips across the country with the FJR and it's proven itself time and again.

Avon front started wearing on the left side around 7,000mi, and when the right started to go, went more to a cupping look. Hot start issues when the battery is going bad.

Comments:
Finished this season on standard 023's with the rear clocking 11,908. No chords showed, but am into the next ply. Front was worn more on the right side, but to the weat indidcator. So it's parked until I get new tires. Thinking of the S20's.

This bike is a mile eater. I have enjoyed two trips across the USA and Canada, a trip down to California and Nevada. I continue to be amazed at how comfortable the bike is. Adequate storage and with a rear seat bag, camping gear comes too. I have run with the original Metzeler tires, Bridgestones, Dunlops and Avons. I will be sticking with AVONS especially for my wet winter riding.

What a bike! So much grunt it just spins the world around underneath. After 4000Km in a week and a half trip, I love it. Much smoother after TB Sync at 10,000 km Service. Tows my trailer and now the campa really easily. Power sliding with the trailer on is fun. Sold at 65,000 Km due to wrist arthritis :-( Bought another Yamaha. :-)

Modifications:
Added front and rear mud flaps (fender extenders). Removed storage box solenoid. Added fuel pump switch (hidden, anti-theft). Added unswitched power strip and power plug w/circuit breakers. Removed rubber 'flaps' to allow more airflow from under fuel tank. Raised fuel tank ~6mm for airflow/cooling. Added insulation to underside of fuel tank to keep it less warm. Put foam around rear of fuel tank, side panels to block hot air to seat. Added switch to turn on rad fan motor when I want it on (still works on auto). Dis-engaged main throttle return spring. Fab'd a radiator protector from expanded aluminum/fibreglass screen. Disabled windshield auto-retract. Replaced stock 'luggage rack' (a joke, but it sure looks purrdy) with a 50 x 30 cm plate for carryin' 'stuff'. At ~16000 km swapped in a Penske 8981 rear damper - much better control and harder to drag footpegs now. Added some 'Jestal' inspired wings to fairing openings in 2008 and these have really helped with keeping the heat off my lower body on hot days.

Comments:
Currently have ~29,500 km on Michelin Pilot Roads - still some rear tread, front seems to be worn out. These tires have kept the round profile, no cupping, no handling complaints at all. Love the 'warmth' coming off the engine on cool days. I enjoy doing all my own maintenance/tinkering and love seeing others' farkles. Checked valve clearance at 38,900 km and all were in middle of specs - no adjust req'd.
