Red 1988 NT650 (Updated: 2001.11.2)

Tires: Bridgestone BT010
Owner: Jeff Thorne

http://www.cbr4cma.sportbikeworld.com/photo5.html
Location: USA (California) -- Sacramento
Experience: Been riding about 7 years now. Took the MSF beginner and advanced rider courses, I recommend these to any new rider.
Bikes Owned: 6
Photo: http://cbr4cma.sportbikeworld.com/photo5.html
Accessories: Currently installed and in use: F2 Clip-ons, CBR 900 Rear shock, K&N filter M4 Aluminum standard-mount exhaust, Second-Look red/grey seat skin, TBR billet front pegs, CBR900 aluminum rear pegs, Goodrich SS front brake line, Goodrich rear braided line through the swingarm.
Modifications: Rear signals were chopped of at the mounts (previous owner) and were replaced with Audi or Volvo flat, flush-mounted signals (which work and look rather good). Removed the chain guard, lowered the front end and have polished much of the aluminum. 145 jet up front, 138 rear- needles were shimmed up with washers.
Problems: Well... I picked up this bike and it had obviously been sitting for a long time. It would fire, but not turn over when I bought it. Six months later I was faced with the reality that the engine was completely shot. I was hoping for a bad head gasket, but both cylinders had poor compression. This really sucked. So, now I've replaced the engine. Boiling water led me to a faulty thermostadt and radiator cap. We'll have to see what other gremlins need to be evicted from this bike!
Comments:
Of the bikes I've ridden/owned (450 Nighthawk, 500 Interceptor, Shadow VLX, CBR600F1 and my wife's Eliminator) the VF500F was my favorite. I am anticipating that this bike will give me the best of both worlds, sportbike handling and V-twin fun. So far, so GOOD! The M4 rumbles like thunder and rides smooth even without any jetting changes. People turn and look all the time at this bike that looks so innocent and little, but roars like a lion. Many people have no idea what it is. This is too funny! I love it. Thanks to all the fellow Hawksters who've willingly given so much advice!!!
For Sale: I have a front wheel that is very slightly warped, but fixable (make offer).

Comments:
I love this bike, it is a blast in the canyons and brings out the hooligan in me. Brakes are incredibly strong. Motor seems to have just the right amount of power, but I do wish the gearing were a little taller. I may change that.
