Comments:
Ready to start modifications; suspension first, then exhaust and carbs. Good handling, overall very decent all round and capable bike. Does need more power for its size and a larger gas tank. Both easy to remedy not necessarily inexpensive for the larger tank. I have the original chain and sprockets since I lub the chain every 100-200 miles.

Comments:
I was impressed with the Hawk when I first saw one at Elkhart Lake in '88. I also ride a Velocette Thruxton. The two fit together well. I will give the right leg a rest and ride the Hawk when my knee gives out. Mountain roads should be awesome.

Experience: Strictly commuter
Bikes Owned: 5
Accessories: SuperTrap Muffler
Modifications: None
Problems: None. This is a reliable, if somewhat unexciting commuter bike.
Comments:
A reviewer of this bike called it a high-tech theater, which to some extent it still is (e.g. single-sided swing-arm, water-cooled engine, twin-spar frame, etc.) It also has slim good looks, especially from the rear, and it is considered by some experts to be a 'collectible.' But it's showing its age. I recently took a test ride on a SuperHawk (VTR1000F) and the difference in handling and performance was astonishing. The NT650 has served me faithfully for ten years, but I think I'm ready for a 1000cc muscle bike.
For Sale: My Hawk 1988 NT650GT is for sale. It has 60,000 miles on the odometer and needs some work, mainly cosmetic: new seat, paint job on tank, new front fender. Also needs new switch assemblies on both handle-bars and key-lock. Mechanically, the engine, drive train and running chassis are in excellent condition. Prefer to sell to Hawk enthusiast who understands the value of this machine.

Modifications: as above
Problems: I will lose my prostrate gland if I don't change the stock seat.
Comments:
I have a 750 Ducati, a bizarre Beemer, but this the "newest" bike I've owned. By gads, everythhing works. A little buzzy and higher center of gravity feeling than my old faithful '78 BMW, but it's light, nimble, has a serious fun factor, and sounds great with the SuperTrapp. Some buzz through the bars and the seat is uncomfortable. I'm look for a mini-fairing. Heard Lockhart makes one. What else is out there?
