Comments:
I love this bike. Jus installed M4 full system 7/25/01. It has to be one of the best sounding exhausts i have ever heard.
For Sale: TLS master cylinder, calipers, hoses, and pads. 2200 miles. Make offer

Location: UK -- Ballyclare-near Belfast, N Ireland.
Experience: 20 years- no" legal" racing experience!
Bikes Owned: 10
Accessories: Set of Arrow carbon cans,K+N filter,Harris s\damper.
Modifications: Yoshi re-map,dropped front end through the yokes 5mm - more weight over front wheel, with the pre-load slackened off, 15cc more fork oil was added to stop the forks bottoming out. The result seems to be more stable with decent rear grip.
Problems: Stuttering on slight throttle openings
Comments:
Absolute cracking bike, I want to up-grade the suspension, mybe Maxton (loads of TT experience and quite resonable to pay). I am worried about reports of the frame cracking(left side shock mount),however Suzuki GB seems to be fixing them regardless of age so fingers crossed.Plus there are further reports of the gearbox bearings failing after 20 thousnd miles-any ideas?

Location: UK -- Ripley Derbyshire
Experience: 17
Bikes Owned: 15+
Accessories: Black double bubble screen, Micron Oval Carbon Fibre Race Pipes, Lower fairing, Carbon Front Indicators, HDD disk pads.... whoaaa momma. small number plate (hehe)
Modifications: Removed dog ugly TL1000S stickers. Power commander and K&N in the pipeline 25/7/2001 16 tooth front sprocket
Problems: Gearbox rebuilt last year after 5th gear went west (Probabely due to previous owners overtightening chain) New clutch plates.
Comments:
A fantastic bike which pulls like a train and overtakes at least one CBR6 every week on the back wheel. Stripped back end over winter and increased rear ride height. Used settings found elsewhere on this website for suspension and transformed TL into possibly the best handling road bike I have ever owned.

GS1AG111100101494:
Black 1997 TL1000S (Updated: 2001.7.24)
Purchased: May 2000
Usage: 20,000 kilometers, Street/Sport, Touring.
Tires: Pirelli Dragons
Owner: JC
Email to JC
Location: Europe (Western) -- Belgium (for now)
Experience: about 16 years, mostly dirt and some vintage cruising
Bikes Owned: 5
Accessories: I bought some anodized screws for the fairing and fuel cap, it looks pretty good. Tail kit coming soon.
Modifications: Full Yoshimura RS-3 pipes and cans, now it sounds better. I haven't run it on a dyno, but it feels stronger throughout the whole power band. Almost clears up the surging at 3000 rpm too. WP spring on the front made a huge difference. Much better. Now I need an Ohlins rear damper. Thinking about a Power Commander and K&N filter.
Problems: fuel light is on constantly(now fixed), and I think that the ecm fuel curve sucks. The throttle acts like an on/off switch. I don't like the Pirelli Dragons, I think I'm gonna get Dunlop 207's.
Comments:
I purchased mine and rode it without the steering damper installed. I don't recommend it!!!!

TLS290369:
SILVER 2000 TL1000S (Updated: 2001.7.24)
Purchased: October 2000
Usage: 4,500 miles, Street/Sport.
Tires: Pirelli dragon evo's (f+r)
Owner: Ian Webb
Email to Ian Webb
Location: UK -- West Mid's
Experience: 10 years road/sport
Bikes Owned: 8
Accessories: Tank protector and a scott oiler at the mo, cans soon to follow, K+N filter, harris carbon hugger (best I've seen) Nylon crash sliders (just in case it goes the same way as my G-SXR!!!!!) Got oval carbon cans on now, sounds good BUT bloody loud!! Carbon belly pan on the way. Braide hose on the front. Carbon cans lasted 2000miles before they blew apart.
Modifications: Set suspension up to MH Racing spec but still running in so limited testing at the moment. I'm gonna hill climb the bugger next year so any suggestions gratefully received. Will I need to revalve the damper 'cos I'm well over 15 stone?
Problems: Too bloody quiet but cans on the way.....! 06/05/01 first big run of the year... superb well impressed. BUT never had a bike that destroys the packing in a race pipe so quickly 1200 miles and it needs re packing, 30-35 mpg doesn't seem to bad but the rear tyres take a real kicking think I'll try Bridgestone 010's next. Just got my insurance renewal from carole nash, last year £375 this year £1355 yep £1355 so are they really called carole cash!! fair enough I did write off a two year old gsxr 750 and lost two years no claims bonus but got offered similar cover with the same insurer for a grand. Finally got fully comp for £520 but I have to fit an thatcham approved security device, (Got my insurance down with the help of mba direct 0845 602 1200 give 'em a call and see what they can do for you.) Fuel injection light has come on twice now while riding a bit quick on bumpy roads, turn the ignition off and back on and it goes away, dealer said its nothing to worry about any body else had this problem?? Don't want an ecu problem out of warranty. Its hard work compared to R1's, but a lot more satisfying. Tyres are destroyed, rears in under 2000miles, fronts in under 3000miles...
Comments:
Wish I'd done it years ago instead of waiting until I killed my GIXER....! Can finally use more of the rev's BLOODY HELL!!! can't wait 'till it's fully run in. Wheelies are a bit scrappy at the moment 'cos I'm not used to such throttle response and engine breaking in a single package but it is showing considerable potential. Handling still not quite there yet but I'll wait for the summer to put in an appearance (if only for a couple of weeks like we got this year.) Before I meddle any more. Still need more noise though...santa you listening?????? Got the noise sorted..... managed the odd scamper during the colder of the cold months that this country has to offer and I'm still a happy bunny. Gonna hill climb the thing this year like I did my Gixer maybe the extra grunt'll help we'll see. Any idea's that I had about this bike being off the pace truly gone now..! Handling doesn't seem to bad on the settings I've got in at the moment, granted it moves about a bit particularly in long fast sweepers and also on the brakes but not a major problem on the road at the moment. Perhaps a few hill climbs (foot & mouth permitting.) and track days will change my mind. 2nd gear wheelies off the throttle with standard gearing, dont know about third 'cos I cant clutch 'em up. Still well chuffed. FIRST REAR LASTED 1500 MILES.......!!! Bloody good fun though. 2nd gear 7 thou rpm boom up she comes, straight into 3rd and off into the distance no real nervousness like on the 98 gsxr.. well happy Been out with agroup of lads who all ride R1's didn't have any trouble with any off them, all they kept asking was what had I done to make my TL so quick, they didn't believe me when I told them that they are all like that. I have never owned a bike that I have enjoyed so much, its a bit risky breaking the speed limits in Wales at the mo but even legal speeds can be fun on the TL rather than the chore that they seem on other bikes. Need to get another job to keep it in tyres. WHERE CAN I GET STAINLESS STEEL HEADERS FROM TO MATCH STANDARD CANS?? JUST SPENT £400 ON RACE CANS AND THE PIPEWORK NOW LOOKS A MESS

Email to Paul Berardis
Location: USA (NorthEast) -- Wolcott CT
Experience: since age 11, dirt, street, some road course time
Bikes Owned: 15
Accessories: Braided front brake lines (best money spent), Yosh RS3 full system, ECII kit, gel seat, Yosh aluminum case cover, Lockhart Philips full lower (second best money spent)
Modifications: The braided lines improved front braking 100%. Yosh pipe and ECII made a small difference in power but give a much better fuel map for easier drivability and no dead spots (why can't the factory figure this stuff out). Dealer threw in gel seat, excellent comfort and quality. Lowers realy complete the bike and give it the look it should have had from the factory (no wonder they don't sell more of these bike, they are flat out ugly with no lower fairing!!)
Problems: None. The bike was a little hard starting when cold but the PCII kit cleared it. The bike gets a little wierd in the corners when ridden hard but this could be the oversized tire out back. I'll probably change it to a 180 before making any judgements against the suspension, which everyone seems to attack.
Comments:
Found this 97 leftover and bought in brand new in 01. The bike seems perfect for me. It ranks as the most fun bike I've had since my 1986 GSXR1100 (many bikes ago). I have just ordered a SST windscreen that will add a 4" lift and cut down on wind, there's not much protection from the stock screen. Otherwise I'm just enjoying the bike. Has anyone used the "Heli Bars"? That may be my last purchase if any. Cheers, Paul
For Sale: I may never sell this one!!!!!

bought the bike s/hand from Carnells Doncaster. Asked the salesman if it had all mods he told me it had lying twat.Carnells have finally replaced the Ecu after 3months of telephone calls but they have not cured the clutch slip. I have only myself to blame for buying it from Carnells. since they have replaced the ecu the temp gauge reads 23 deg from cold anybody got any ideas why.

Maybe I'm a reactionary, but a couple of carburetors would do wonders for this bike. Also, who's the genius that is responsible for the "quickie fix" steering dampner intallation? Air filter access is severely compromised.

Awsome sport touring bike Best wheelies Still gets my heart pounding. If you really want to make your TL handle like the bike Suzuki wanted, then spend the $$ and put an Ohlins on it! 07/07 threw the Azaros over the nearest fence after a ride int the rain. Holy F!*k are they slippery on this torquey twin!!!! This is the bike that those boys over at Bu*** wished they could build.

Slight RPM stumbling, died at stoplight once or twice. I may try a K&N air filter then maybe a Power Comm. II. No cracks on frame yet, no fuel leaks from under tank.
Comments:
Modifications will only be to fix problems. Bike has tremendous power. More than I should ever need. I love the looks of the bike. Haven't felt the need for any suspension upgrades, but I am still getting used to the bike. Not sure what recalls may have been taken care of, they spoke very little english at Red Baron Cycles. Its only my second bike, friends say too much bike for me, but I love it! I'm keeping this one.

Problems: BOught bike used and checked to see if recall work was done it was. Havent had any problems so far. Slight stumbles in low revs nothing to annoying. Jacked up rear preload to max and fiddled with front seems ok no leaks or slappers
Comments:
Had a Triumph Speed Triple before I bought the TLs, but there is no comparison. This is the first bike I've owned that has such radical acceleration. Love the wheelies. Fun factor a perfect 10. Love smoking my buds on the Ducati's.This bike is what every manufacturer should be shooting for. Do the airbox mod it really pulls on the highway now. With the trunk trimmed down and bars cut the tail section is looking good. Check out the photo album for the airbox and trunk mod. The 2.5 weight oil in damper the heli-bars and the 180 rear tire have turned the straight line TLS in to a carving machine. Now I need to lose the rear damper and have the forks revalved.
