Problems: FUEL TANK & GASKET,(REPLACED BY SUZUKI), SUZUKI HAD THE DEALER CLEAN MY FRAME FROM GAS STAINS DURING THE RECALL. REPLACED COMPUTER(DONE BY SUZUKI PRIOR TO DELIVERY.) DOESN'T START UP COLD IMMEDIATELY,IT TAKES AT LEAST THREE TRIES. ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO STARTED HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE DASH LIGHTING, FUSE KEPT BLOWING. "I" RESOLVED THE PROBLEM LAST THRUSDAY, I DISCOVERED THAT THE WIRES FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH WERE BEING PINCHED BY THE CLUCH CABLE AND THE FRAME. THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED BY REROUTING THE CLUTCH CABLE BETWEEN THE FRAME AND THE IGNITION WIRES AND CHANGING THE FUSE. NOFURTHER PROBLEM TO FOLLOW THAT. YES I FIX THE MAJORITY OF THE PROBLEMS I HAVE WITH MY BIKES. I DON'T BELIEVE IN TWO WEEKS IN THE DEALERSHIP WHEN THE WHEATHER IS NICE AND HEARING "I HAVEN'T GOTTON TO IT YET"

Bought the bike used but in mint condition. Had my first fast run on 06/16/99 and saw 165mph on clock at an altitude of 5,500 ft (Johannesburg). Got a bit scared by the head-shaking on fast (100mph) turns. Any ideas to sort this out?

Problems: at high speed the handling it is not that nice. It doesn't feel that sure.Gimme somme Hints to set the suspension (I weigh 65 Kg)
Comments:
It is wonderful: big reliability (not like my old Ducati Monster), big engine (it only needs a lot of fuel). I used it for a continous 17 hours trip to Spain allways out of highway and it has been perfect (my wrists and shoulders hurted a bit but it doesn't matter). Only that problem at high speed...

Accessories: Full race Yosh stainless exhaust and Corbon seat. More later.
Problems: I am working on this clutch problem that others have had. Seems to occur coming out of corners under hard acceleration.
Comments:
I have backed off the rear compression dampning all the way, rebound is 2 clicks from all out, this seems to help. Still working on front. My bike likes the front end loaded in corners which makes exits more of a dirt track event than what other twins have shown.

Modifications: 2 1/2 inch ride height adjuster, lowered front end stance 10mm, 2 into 1 Two Brothers exaust(very rich & LOUD!), Power Commander II ECU controller, steel braided brake lines,
Problems: Lurchy around 3 grand, intermittent red light and F1 displayed on LCD
Comments:
The ride height adjustment and front end tuck helped in getting the steering geometry right for hard sport riding. We made incremental changes to maximize front tire usage. The ECU upgrade and 2 into 1 make for an awesome HP gain compared to a stock TL, though at a price. The back pressure is so great that I desintegrated a carbon fiber can, then blew an aluminum can apart. Two Brothers won't warranty this particular exhaust

Modifications: Junked the standard steering damper and constantly fiddling with the suspension. Fitting a 180/55/17 rear tyre which has improved the handling
Problems: Clutch slipping, cracks at the ends of both standard exhaust cans, oil light flickering on and off (short in loom somewhere) Watery gunge still leaks from water pump/ clutch cover housing coming up for second fix from dealer
Comments:
Wicked bike, great fun, but eats tyres like they're going out of fashion. Have paid dearly for the opportunity to try virtually every tyre on the market. have just finished off a pair of D207 GP's which grip like hell but lasted about 800 miles. Not impressed with BT65's which despite the manufacturers claims didn't last any better than the others (try slowing down?)

Just traded in a Ducati Monster 900 for the TL. Seems great so far - effortlessly fast compared to the Duke but totally different character. Needs some cans though, it's a bit quiet. Makes the wrists ache a little but I'm sure I'll get used to it. Roll on summer!

Accessories: NWS Grab Rail, Alarm
Modifications: Raised fork 3mm , jacked rear preload to show 7.5 mm thread. Backed of rear compression damping by 3/4 turn from std, rear rebound backed of 1/4 turn from std. Backed off front comp damping by 1/4 turn from std. 15/03/99 - Fitted Sebring Race silencers, what a note. Fitted 16 tooth front sprocket. Had rear shock re-vavled by MH racing. The bike is excellent now, it feels so much better on the road. The best mod is the shock re-valve, I would recommens this to all TL owners.
Problems: Being light (10 1/2 stone - 70Kg) i need to get weight over the front, so it sometime shakes it head, i would describe it as flighty at speed. Sometimes get a backfire when starting from cold or shutting down, dealer says bike has had modified ECU. Must be 2nd generation ECU, dont want 3rd gen as I have heard you lose about 4 -7 BHP. Rear MEZ1 race lasted 1100 Miles and was rubbish, too flexible. It would squirm over white lines and uneven road surface (althouh i had them on my GSXR 7-11 and they were realy good). Replaced rear witn MEZ3 Race and it was a completely different bike. It now handles very well. I had to alter the rear comp damping with the new tyre, it was far too hard. Rear tyre life, the MEZ3 only did 1500 miles. I hope the shock re-valve fixex this. Update 20-05-99 Fitted Dunlop D207 and had 1500 miles from rear with a good 500-1000 miles left.
Comments:
Can't keep front wheel down, 100mph + wheelies in 3rd gear (2 up) are too easy, controling them is not so easy. Magic bike, a real hooligan machine.

Comments:
The Penske rear damper setup + the 180 D207GP transformed the handling. The EBC Pro Lite rotors and HH pads are remarkable--when hot 1-finger stoppies. Very crash worthy.

Comments:
Beautiful bike, and thanks for the warning about the solo seat scratching the paint (haven't used it yet and probably won't unless anyone has any suggestions) Dynoed at Factory Pro: 120 HP at rear wheel w/o ram-air. From articles, ram-air adds ~ 6HP. This bike rocks! And to the fag who hacked my entry and told me that the recall was a SuperHawk, I rode my friend's last week and my only conclusion was that its a frigging girl's bike. Don't get your panties in a fuss, PUSSY!
