Problems: Engine started to knock, Suzuki says that the oil pump failed and caused the crank to run dry. They are busy fixing it, but boy does it take long to get a crankshaft into this country! It’s been almost 4 weeks now, however I must say that Sim was kind enough to give me a 750 SRAD as a loaner. 98/07/31 - I got my True Love back !!!

Accessories: Ballistic carbon bolt-ons, carbon tank guard
Modifications: nil
Problems: sometimes have trouble selecting sixth gear. The usual trouble with single seat cover rubbing paint off. Spoke to a guy with 97 TL-S and he had a cracked frame where rotary damper is bolted on. Top bolt - LHS. Info. is that it may be a fault with bolt too tight on early models.
Comments:
Absolute beast. Brilliant in black. The Ballistic pipes sound/look fantastic. Changed rear from D204 to Macadam. Original front tyre shagged at 10,000, two rears worn out. Front MEZ1 changed to a Hi-Sport Racing 6/1/99. Leave pillion seat on all the time now due to paint rubbing off.

Comments:
THIS BIKE IS WAY TOO MUCH FUN. I CAN HARDLY WAIT FOR THE NEW SEASON TO START RIDING AGAIN, BUT THE OFF SEASON GIVES ME TIME TO BUY ALL KINDS OF COOL SH!T FOR IT. I HAVE ALL THE ARTICLES WRITTEN ABOUT THIS BIKE AND ALL THOSE OLD S.O.B.'S THAT DID THE REVIEWS AND SAID THAT IT WAS UNCOMFOTABLE AND COULDN'T RIDE IT ARE WAY OFF. I RIDE THIS THING ALL DAY AND THE ONLY THING SORE IS MY REAR FROM SITTING. I DO HAVE A PIC AVAILABLE BUT NOT ONLINE EMAIL ME IF YOU WANT TO SEE IT.

Has any one tried this mod yet and if so how did it turn out? let me know!
Modifications: Yosh SSR-2 Carbon fiber slip- ons

Comments:
This bike is bitchin guys and gals the engine is awsome and it's so much fun to ride there is always some at the twist of the wrist with out having to down shift and pay the tap dance game on the shifft lever, I love it! Took the bike up to Deal's Gap the second weekend I had it what a bast and pleasure to ride, I don't know if I'll ever go back to a in-line four again. ride safe and keep the sticky side down.

Modifications: All upgrades done. New gas tank under warranty and a new rear shock due to squeeking over bumps. The bike was a Yoshimura Suzuki demo bike and was in the July 97 CycleWorld mag article Sweet 16. I bought it at considerable savings as a demo with 1100 miles on it. The Dyno before the new ecu and after were the same, but with the new ecu it is much more wheely happy at low rpms :)
Problems: Squeeky rear shock
Comments:
I LOVE it. Ever since I had a GiSXeR 7/11 I have been spoiled for torque and hp and light weight. Now I have both. I also have a 97 Bandit 1200 FOR SALE, nice power but missed the sport aspect too much so I bought a TL! Hopefully with the upgrades done and the bikes history it will be a good reliable strong runner for a long time. I can't wait to sell the Bandit and buy some pipes! I'm glad I didn't buy a 916. I had the bike dynoed on an 86F day. 112.3 HP @ 8500 RPM, not bad for stock.

Comments:
I BOUGHT THIS AS A DEALER LEFTOVER FOR INVOICE. THIS IS A BIKE WITH SOME SERIOUS CHARACTER, AND NOT TO MENTION, PERFORMANCE. POWERSPORTS SUZUKI OF SOUTH FLORIDA SUCKS. I WOULDNT BUY THE CURE FOR CANCER FROM THEM. I SAW A BODY KIT ON THE INDIGO (EXHAUST) WEB SIGHT, IT IS A NEW TAIL, UPPER, AND HALF LOWER, IT SAYS "ROBRADY" UNDER THE PIC. ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO BUY ONE OF THESE?////FORGET IT, I FOUND OUT HOW MUCH IT COSTS....BIKE NOW AT 2200 MILES AND IM FEELING A DEAD SPOT AT AROUND 3300 RPM??? ALSO THE ANODIZED SHINY PORTION OF THE FRAME IS ALL DISTORTED AND LOOKS REALLY BAD, ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS? LET ME KNOW WHAT THE DEALER SAID PLEASE. I RIDE WITH A DUC 748 AND A 916, I LOVE THE FACT THAT MY BASIC STOCK TL DUSTS THE BIG MONEY BIKES!!!!

Comments:
Suzuki failed with it's customer support with all the problems this bike has had. My bike had more miles on the trailer back and forth to the dealer than on the road. Never will I buy anything made by Suzuki AGAIN new or used. SPECIAL THANK YOU TO "DYNO-JET" If it was not for them this bike would still run like a Hugo with 2 cylinders missing.

Problems: Installed above listed performance parts in hopes of ridding BAD stalling and hesitation problem- three different dealer visits and several phone conversations with Suzuki America finally netted new ECU with noticeable imrovement for two weeks- then problem returned- had to install above parts then had dyno-tuned at Alba Actionsports (Poway, Ca) Has about 125 horsepower after work and is far smoother Usual recalls performed (fuel, ECU, steering damper) Just now noticed that very stong gas smell in crank case is occuring as well as worsening mileage Had oil leaks New gaskets on clutch and crank covers installed (warranty) Any info on fuel in crank case would be greatly appreciated
Comments:
Bike was very quirky when first purchased Poor factory suspension settings and running problem made impossible to explore performance edge Finally running well enough to push hard and performance is astounding Wheelie happy tire eater Gotta love it despite many problems

Problems: slight clutch slip, maybe traces of gas in oil
Comments:
bike is an absolut screamer. 15 tooth is perf at 3000ft might be too much at sea level. sill pulls 155-160mph at limiter. airbox is a home job, hack saw to the middle of the bottom(where the vac motor mounts) throw some plexiglass in the oven at 200 deg maybe 3-5 min. drape the plexi over the bottom when it forms to the bottom throw some cool water over it. stiffens right up. used epoxy to fasten to the air box. the kind i used sucked. it held it there but not air tight so i smeared inner tube glue (liquid rubber) allover the seams. also i cut out as much of the plastic as i could below the filter. theres kind of a restrictor there. that was about 2k ago. i dont really know what im doing, just tryin stuff, but the air box made a HUGE difference from 6500-10000rpm and i didnt notice any loss below that. if there is, the top end is worth it. susp. feels beter than it did out of the crate, but feels slow comp to other bikes ive ridden. looking for feedback on M4 2into1, dyno looks good. thought maybe a 2into1 would be too much on the bottom end, head shake. also the LE/PENSKE set-up, kinda spendy but sounds like the ticket. how bout mounting the batt. up front, using 60 series instead of 70 front tire. hear complaining about chasis flex and in one case a complete break. any ideas on extra gusseting? how bout a stiffer rear swing arm? read one english article on the NSW but they raised the rear ride hight 1" and the results sounded similar to that of just a ride hight change. how about extra capacity tank? bikes allover my livingroom for the winter, looking for ideas on any good improvements especially getting my cluth to hook-up e-mail at: argrage@eoni.com
