it had lacked power and begun to run rich soon after i bought it, i downjetted the carbs twice still ran weak, thats when i took a good hard look at the airfilter which was plugged solid, serviced the filter and rejetted it, wow... impressive.

engine seems to have some piston slap while warming up?? It may be a normal noise for these engines, seems to be fine at operating temp.

GenMar handlebar risers: 5/8" isn't much extra rise but it helps take pressure off the wrists on those long rides to new roads required here in New Mexico. Arai Signet GT: Excellent fit and comfort with my oblong head. Face shield changing leaves much to be desired - no tools required but be prepared to fight with the thing. Motoline magnetic tank bag (purchased in Germany): I've never seen these in the US but almost worth a trip to Germany to purchase. Well made with stackable sections. Magnetic attachment allows easy placement and removal but strong enough to remain in place at any speed obtainable.

Modifications:
Speedbleeder brake caliper vents: Inexpensive and easy to install - internal check valve makes bleeding brakes quick and simple for one person.

Fatigue crack in front fender at right hand mounting - repaired under warranty per Kawasaki service bulletin.

Akrapovic full system, Ohlin 4 rear shock, Ohlin springs and valves front, K&N Filter. Jet kit. Steel brake lines on front (01/01/2001) Had to rebuild the front end after horrendous crash at Kyalami in March 2001. Changed valving and oil - best front end ever.

Comments:
The Ohlin suspension is great but more difficult to setup until you get use to it. A great improvement over my 95 ZX9R B1. As a race bike it is reliable but the weight can get a bit much on tight circuits.

Modifications:
Scraped on pavement twice! EBC HH brake pads up front, WOW these pads rock! Did a valve adjustment at 21K miles, all the exhaust clearences were a bit tight, and all the intake clearences were right on. At 26K miles about to put on new chain, sprockets, tires, brake pads and possibly clutch.

Problems:
Clutch return spring broke, have not fixed it Front fender cracked by screws. Warped front rotor, about to replace, most likely due to a rotor lock! Had lower faring bolt fall out and stick in lower triple clamp/steering stop. That locked up the steering and I went down at low speed!

I love it, dreaming about a TURBO! Looked at many bkes, even since, don't think anything else is as good.

Nothing really, a bit jerky at 3,000, is this normal? Other than that nice and smooth up to the mad jump at 9,000! Carbon hugger a bugger to fit, had to remove some parts and modify the hugger to fit, now looks great. Carb Icing: the bike has been suffering a couple of times: Kawasaki now want to replace the complete CARB bank!!! Carb's been replaced, producing exactly the same power curve as before, will update when it get's cold enough to test for carb icing...

Overall very impressed, moved up from an old ZZR600 so big jump in power and smoothness. Had it dynoed the other day, showing 144bhp at the crank and 131bhp at the wheels, most impressive!
