Bikes Owned: 4
Accessories: Ventura rack system, full Yoshimura Stainless Race System, Factory Jet Kit, Factory Ignition Advancer, Lite Skinz.
Modifications: Replaced the original exhaust system with a full Yoshi, and added a Jet Kit and Ignition Advancer.
Problems: Paint on petrol tank in front of the filler cap started to lift in lines, under the clear coat. This was replaced under warranty. Other then that it is AWESOME!
Comments:
The Yoshi with the Jet kit and Ignition Advancer made the engine spin up a lot easier, and also made it a lot smoother. I had the pipe put on at the 500km mark and the rest at 6000km. You can feel in increase in power, and the sound is excellent. Not too loud, but deep and definately meaning the business. Goes like a bullet, and anyone who rides it, will describe it as awesome, and way better then stock.

Location: UK -- Stafford
Experience: 30
Bikes Owned: 14
Accessories: Still pretty stock, but an Ermax (French) colour coordinated hugger added - they really ought to be fitted from new for use in the UK. Since purchase I have ridden only about 200 miles on dry tarmac! Just (08/99) fitted a Corbin seat which has made 400 mile days not only possible, but comfortable!
Modifications: None as yet, but an aftermarket end can is on the cards for a rortier sound...(Carbon Can Co. Blue anodised race pipe) Avon Azaro's were a disaster. They slow the steering down to dangerous levels and only lasted 2,700 miles to boot! Now back on Bridgstone Battlax's and confidence is restored. I have opted for a mix of BT56 front with a BT57 rear. Works very well, grip and longevity. They lasted 5,135 miles and the front still had maybe 1K left. Dunlop D207s fitted end July 1998 thanks to Mick Papp! Well done Mick, at last a tyre which is better even than the Battlax on the ZX9. Full report in due course. Finally (08/99)got around to fitting a Carbon Can Co. blue anodised race can to the bike. Sounds great and has freed up some power from 6K up. The trade-off is that it's a bit "fluffy" at very low RPM, but a dynojet kit would probably sort that if it gets irritating.
Problems: None with the bike, but a malfunctioning LED on the Datatool alarm will need fixing. 10 March: Having owned four water cooled Kwaks now, I find that they all have the infamous "carb icing" problem. I was reminded of this most graphically on my ride home from work in sleet yesterday, with my "Superbike" running like a diesel tractor unit! If anyone out there has successfully cured this, please let me know - and yes, I have tried 4* Leaded petrol. Good for MPG, but not so hot for the carb icing. Update (23 April 1999), still getting the carb icing, but two rays of hope on the horizon. An e-mail from Australia (!) suggests using a 2% solution of Isopropyl Alcohol to a fuel tankful (on order) and my dealer tells me that an improvement (no cure claimed) is to swop the C1 carbs for the modified C2 carbs; also on order. Will report back when fitted. Update (29.06.99)C2 Carbs now fitted (at 9,700 miles) and they have improved matters substantially. A trace of the problem still exists, but nowhere near the scale it was and I can live with it. Gearbox jamming in 3rd. Traced to bearing not greased (at assembly stage?) sorted under warranty. Now changes like silk (even clutchless) and makes me think it was iffy from the off! Glitch on the headlamp of late where it blows fuses. Traced to incorrectly routed loom. Sorted under warranty.
Comments:
Handles well, goes ballistic when asked and stops hard. Every bit as good as my ZX-7R was and that's no mean feat. At 5.5K miles, the motor has loosened up a treat and the power is now stronger than ever. I have ridden an R1 too now, but for all round road riding, I prefer me Ninja! Seriously considering a C2, Nuff said! Having reached 17,000 miles in early October and also being offered a deal I could not refuse including 0% finance, I have traded in my much loved C1 for a ..... C2! See new entry for this one.
For Sale: Baglux Tank harnesses for ZX-7R (Green) £25. Standard end can for ZX-7R, perfect condition, £50 ono. Maroon Baglux bags (x 2 zip together) good condition £40 the pair or £25 ea.

Experience: 27 Years - Last 6 months in US, prior to that - all UK riding, with occasional trips to France, IOM etc. Also BMF instructor/examiner (prior to moving to US). IAM member. 2 track days at Ron Haslam Race School (Donnington Park). Novice member of the Chobham roundabout 'Knee-down' club! Still own slightly tweaked Suzuki GSXR750L in UK (not for sale). Still trying to get knee down, only now it's at Mount Palomar!
Bikes Owned: 5
Accessories: Occasional wife!
Modifications: None as yet - probably a different exhaust next year - or the year after - maybe...
Problems: Lots! - Are you sitting comfortably?, then I'll begin... 1. When picked bike up from dealer - no water in header tank after PDI. Topped up by dealer before riding away from showroom. During first 500 miles, water level dropped every few days - until it wasn't visible in header. During this time it changed colo(u)r... contained brown sludge. Level seem OK at the moment, but system should be flushed at next service. 2. After 500 - 600 miles: very bad vibration between 4-6000 RPM... mostly gone now. 3. Idle speed varies - sometimes seems like it's firing on only 3 cylinders (hunting?). 4. On one occasion - while warming bike up (the engine was idling smoothly), there were 3 metallic sounding 'clangs'. Each time, the engine just stopped dead and had to be restarted. No further occurrences. 5. On another occasion - while pulling away from stop lights (with accessory on the back), there was one big metallic 'clang', and the bike stalled. This was with the engine revs at about 2-3000 RPM. Noise made pedestrians look around (inc. peace officer!). Nearly fell off. Very embarrasing. Not happened again. 6. On yet another occasion - after arriving home - parked in garage and notice horrible burning smell, plus some smoke coming from under the tank! After dealer couldn't find any problems, I traced it to the belly-pan being fitted incorrectly! Seems OK at the moment. 7. Seems to run very very hot (despite reading on temperature gague). Maybe this to do with the CAT? 8. Seems to have 2/3 false neutrals. 9. Leaving home one morning for work... bike seemed to be OK, but would not pull above 2000 RPM. Eventually engine stalled. Upon restarting bike - everything was fine. No re-occurrence of problem. 10. Riding out one sunday - went to overtake a car - bike wouldn't pull above 6000 RPM! (oh joy!) Only did this once. 11. Now the pain: Since riding the bike from new, there has been a noticable hessitation (stumbling?) between 3-4000 RPM. Sometimes it's worse than others - but it's always there. Dealer cannot feel it (though friends can!) Dealer says that Kawasaki are not interested in anything that happens below 7000 RPM! It use to be such that it would happen if you hold the throttle at a constant position, but these days - it happens if you are gently accellerating too. It's annoying because it's right at the point for legal speeds on the freeways (OK... so I should (do) ride faster, but I can't use that as an excuse if I were ever to be stopped by a peace officer!). The other annoying place is; it occurs at just the right speed (in 1st/2nd gear) when going up/down Mount Palomar - Now that could be a tad more dangerous than normal. If anyone knows what the problem is - please let me know. In the meantime Kawasaki are aware that I have this problem (despite what the dealer says - they are interested), and I'll update this page when I find out.
Comments:
It's not as 'exciting' as the GSXR, but probably the best bike I have ever owned/ridden - despite all the niggly little problems (and I've ridden lots, even though I've only owned 5).
For Sale: Despite above problems - not a chance.

Problems: There are so many people who talk crap about the suspension being to soft when it is way over sprung as standerd . If you are light rider between 8-11.5 stone have you ever noticed that when you have a passenger the bike feels more planted at the rear , Also have you felt the kicks in the arse on bumps in corners which can cause stepping out high-siding problems, well it comes with a 10.5 kilo spring when really it needs a 8.5 kilo instead it then lets swing arm move freely making the tire sit on the road in stead working the tire to hard, my rear end is plush which is a transformation to the stock system i can now load the rear end so hard it can lift the front at over 115mph while laying big fat darkies out of corners..
Comments:
this bike is very quick hitting the rev-limiter in top under 1.5 miles indicating over 190mph also it has done a 10.1@143mph ss quarter

Modifications: Leo Vinci titanium race end can -= no jetting needed, power great and an unbelievable sound on shut off!
Problems: Minor Carb icing around and below 2 deg.C. Carb icing 90% cured by cleaning the little in-line filter which carries the engine oil to the carb float chambers to elevate the fuel/mixture temp. above the dew point. Paint on the wheels continues to wear off (still too much polishing!) Wheels and discs were replaced under warranty at 13k miles.
Comments:
One of the best bikes I have owned. Performance is phenomenal. Both my children and wife ride pillion and do not complain. Standard BT56's not upto the job - D207's far better. Sintered HH EBC Pads in currently - will advise wear rate shortly. A further set of D207's and front sintered brake pads - that gives a mileage of 3000 miles for tyres and pads. Azaros used and binned - absolute rubbish - back to D207's, dont' know why I changed. Around 3k again for tyres and pads but have now gone back to OE pads due to new discs fitted. Head gasket has just started to leak and the clutch is rumbling - will see what the 16k service brings - still a great bike.

Comments:
Absolutely fucking mental, it's a leathal machine! Kicks the YZF R1's ass easy. Even one that has a performance exhaust and jetted. The Scary thing is that it's only done 500km(310 miles) and the engine is still tight. Gavin Cosway knows how to build a performance bike, thats for sure. I'll have to update this after 5000km (3106 miles) to tell you what sort of monster it turns into.

Great well handling bike, quite heavy on the twisters but unbeaten at the larger roads. And looking forward to get the new engine in, 180 bhp is the estimated result (And 180 kg dry weight by the way)

Comments:
Considering i was riding custom bikes, i find the bike very powerfull ! The riding position is comfortable. How ever the seat needs more pading for being confortable for longuer ride. Dispite that, it`s a great bike, very light and fun to drive. Top speed 280 km/h 172 mille/ hour
