Green 2000 ZX-9R E1 (Updated: 2003.2.19)
Purchased: February 2000
Usage: 19,405 miles, Street/Sport, Touring.
Tires: Current - Bridgestone BT020 / Favorite - Dunlop D207ZR
Owner: David von Mosch
Email to David von Mosch
Location: USA (SouthCentral) -- San Antonio, Texas
Experience: 28 yrs. Started riding off-road in kindergarden, competing by the 2nd grade - for about 14 years, riding fr pleasure ever since.
Bikes Owned: 9
Accessories: AGV Modena two-piece racing leathers, AGV Carbon 7 gloves, Arai Quantum/f - Sakata 3 helmet, Corbin tall boots (soon to be replaced by AGV or Alpinestars boots), Nelson-Rigg tank bag, and a throttle paddle for my longer trips. Battery Tender.
Modifications: Akrapovic full exhaust system - Sport Production w/carbon canister (pricey, but worth it!). I removed the original shifter, and machined a new tip out of billet aluminum,to replace the ugly and worn out rubber tip. Planning to order the Factory Pro CRB-K88-1.7-RK jet kit and BMC air filter some time. I also installed Werks Works aluminum footpegs. Corbin Streetfighter saddle (best money spent to date!). Zero Gravity, medium smoke, double-bubble windscreen. Cut off the rear fender flush with the "trunk", and flipped the license plate up to the original reflector mount. If you take your time to make it look nice (i.e. not a hack job!), it is a good looking, cheap alternative to an expensive aftermarket tail enclosure. Removed all of the reflectors, and installed LP Short Stalk III Carbon/Amber marker lights front and rear. I fabricated some neat aluminum plug/mounts for the front marker lights, to fill the large factory holes. Installed 3-piece, braided steel front brake lines. Fabricated light-weight aluminum muffler mount to do away with both passenger pegs. Installed PIAA Super White headlight bulbs - expensive...unless you ride at night!
Problems: Irritating wrinkles in the graphics where the lower fairing bolts up. The only problem I have had is with the shift linkage wallowing out where the original heims were riveted in. I drilled out the factory heims, and replaced them with heavy duty American pieces. This fix made everything nice and tight, and will allow me to easily replace them in the future if necessary. If you are careful, you can use the original link-rod by drilling it out and re-tapping it to 1/4-28 R & L.
Comments:
I keep eyeballing all of the new bikes and models, but this has been such a great bike, I would really have a hard time giving it up. I can shoot the curves when I want, as well as make a 3K mile road trip with my dad once or twice a year. **I will put some pictures out there when I can get a page set up.

Very attractive looking sportbike that pulls third gear wheelies without the clutch. Will add dyno results and picures in the near future. Contemplating whether or not to lower bike for better launching capabilities.

Green/Black 2002 ZX900F1 (Updated: 2003.2.10)
Purchased: March '02
Usage: 1,500 miles, Street/Sport.
Tires: Bridgestone OEM / Pilot Sports
Owner: Mike Anderson
Email to Mike Anderson
Location: USA (SouthEast) -- Marietta, GA
Experience: Street riding experience for 7 years; Track Days for the past 3 years
Bikes Owned: 3
Accessories: Double Bouble windscreen; frame sliders.
Modifications: Setup suspension as recommended by Max McAllister of Traxxion Dynamics, and it handles much, much better! Still need to raise ride ht. by 5-8mm; this should take care of some of the sluggish turn-in. (Jan. '03)Raised the rear ride height by ~8 mm, and it turns much easier. (Feb. '03)First track day for this bike - needed one more turn out for a total of 5 turns out on the rear shock preload from the stock setting.
Problems: Battery will work fine one day, and will be completely dead the next day. However, only 10 minutes on the charger brought it back to life, and I did not have any problems all weekend. This has happened on two different occassions
Comments:
Great Bike! Pretty comfortable, suprisingly. It took a full session at the track day to get used to the tremendous power advantage that it has over my F2. After I got used to entering the turns after the straights approx. 30 mph faster it was a lot of fun! If you do a track day, make sure you completely remove the entire side stand bracket from the frame, or it will dig in on fast left handers. This almost ruined my day before I figured out what the problem was!

Comments:
two daughters' weddings to pay for this year prevent me from replacing the bike - but I've decided I wouldn't anyway! it is not cutting edge I suppose - but is just a brilliant all rounder. I commute, tour two up and do some track days as well. Riding position is not extreme, I get amazing fuel economy (except on track days!) and acceptable tyre wear. Having owned three vfr's, I thought there was nothing else to suit my varied requirements.....wrong!!! Having read some more comments - I should add that the rear pads, chain and sprockets are original! front pads did 14k! regularly see 45mpg! and the bike is steady as a rock at indicated 160 (not in UK officer) two up with full luggage!!

Accessories: Smoked windscreen,targa seat cover.
Modifications: Heli-bars,D&D full carbon fiber exhaust, dynojet stage 1 jet kit,K&N airfilter, slightly revised gearing. Front sprocket 15 teeth rear 46 as opposed to the stock 16/44.Cheetah SST windscreen,Goodrich steel braided front brake lines,Race Tech reworked rear shock.
Problems: No real problems. The bike has been well maintained and garaged.
Comments:
I love this bike. The heli-bars really make a difference and are worth the cost(about $220) The jet kit, slip on and air filter were installed at the same time and really make a difference. These mods really just open the bike up and fill in the flat spots that are part of the stock set ups powerband. I would also highly suggest the changed gearing. I am not riding on a track and rarely do above 150mph so the decrease in top end is not a big deal. What is nice is that now the bike spends a lot more time in the meat of the powerband at regular speeds between 40 and 90mph. It also wheelies like crazy and it still isn't revving real hard or vibrating at cruising speeds. All in all I would certainly buy another ZX9R but now I need to start working on the cosmetics of my bike its a little beat up. At the moment the bike is totally taken apart. I am replacing all the bearings putting a full exhaust on and also had my shock sent to race tech. I can't wait to get it all together and see how it all works.
For Sale: Vance&Hines SS2R slip on. Stock exhaust canister and rusty but still functional headers. Also a beat up upper fairing that could be fixed. It will mount as is. I would sell any or all of these parts together or seperate. Email me for prices if you're interested.

Modifications: None as of yet. I want to get it rejetted with changing the can. I love how it rumbles low and loud now, but want speed instead. Also, I am looking at an ignition advancer and K&N air filter. I will let you know how much above 128 HP I can get.
Problems: Had to have it rejetted(OEM) and the carbs sync'ed almost right away. After that it ran great. A wire problem that shorted it out every once in awhile. The warrenty took care of it.
