Interesting, my bike is totally stock (other than the upgrades I've
installed, i.e. no exhaust or intake changes) and the nut IS on the right
side.  I guess I'm lucky I never had to use the manual for this
area,...hmmm.

This is the same diagram I have, but it's backwards. the nut is on the right
side and the top hat shaped spacer is on the brake side of the wheel.
