I would recommend against the pod filters as they are a pain to tune, from
what I have been told is stick with the stock setup and get it running
right.  You will most likely have to re jet going to pod filters.

I would idle the bike for a bit with the filters off and then shut it off
to see if any of the carbs are leaking fuel.

My bikes carbs were a mess when I bought my 95 it took me 3 times to get
them clean.
