Lots of vibration from the mill causing rattles in faring, clocks and even the tail box. Noisy clutch basket. (hope to solve with thicker oil) No 2nd problems yet. Tacho hunting at 3500-4500 RPM.

I inherited this ride as is and it is a missile without a scratch. however the bike wants the open road and doesn't like in town riding. does anyone have any suggestions on how to make it a commuter as well as a tourer? it wants to foul plugs because it runs too rich for in town riding.

New Betor rear shock last Christmas, Progresive front springs at same time. New P/B bush made for rear shock lower mounting. Goodridge front brake hose. New collector box from FJOC in May 2001.

Problems:
Clutch slave cylinder started leaking in Norway, had this fixed by Phil at FJOC, have also replaced internals of master cylinder. Clutch still feels light, but this may be because the clutch on my BMW is comparatively heavy.(Cable as opposed to hydraulic). Standard front calipers made a hobby out of siezing, so I replaced them with a pair off a TDM 850, a slightly modified version, problem solved.

Comments:
29,823 miles when I bought it. Almost an exellent bike, but I like to explore some mild off-road stuff, so no good here, hence the BMW. The torque on the Yam is phenomenal, but its a high speed motorway bike, and I tend to like small country lanes. If I went to the South of France or Spain for holidays, it would be perfect.

Problems:
Gas mileage (140 miles to the tank city). Clutch cylinder leaks(new seals). New TCI unit and pickup coil(Luckily I was only 2 blocks from home when it died - uphill). New fuel pump and relay (still ran, just not well over 70mph). No 2nd gear problem yet (20w50 synthetic oil keeps it away) Clutch slippage though. Will not wheelie but will burn out with no problem (great for stoplight showoffs)

Comments:
It used to weave under accel until I turned the preload up front & rear as well as damping. Could definitely use better springs up front. Some vibration but livable. Plastic is in good shape except lower cowling which is cracked. Fuel gauge is still usable but speedo needle is all over the place above 65 (no tickets yet). I want to replace the orig. exhaust w/something louder and better looking. Please email your suggestions to pbarnum2@juno.com. Also I am looking to freshen up the motor bottom end as well as a mild port&polish up top. Any suggestions for the carbs is appreciated

No major problems I had a small crack in the rear of my engine case, but a dremal tool and a little J.B. weld fixed that problem. My brakes are a little soft, so my next project will be stainless steel brake lines.

This is the best street/tour bike I have ever ridden. Its a little hot here in Vegas during the summer so I have not been able to go but a couple of hundred miles at a time. Hopfully in the next couple months I will be able to get out and take it for a nice ride.
