Accessories: Full Pichler PK-2 fairing. Telefix fork brace. Braided stainless steel brake lines. More comfortable hand grips. BMW saddlebags and mounts. Black engine guards.
Problems: Odometer numbers spin randomly, but speedometer still works. Steering stop came off-not from accident. Now handlebar switches can touch tank if you're not careful. Mount tabs on both sidecovers broke off--I lost both sidecovers.
Comments:
Will be repainting it BMW Palmetto Green (same color as the '95 K1100RS) I LOVE that color.
For Sale: Still have all the original LS fairing and all mounting pieces including the headlight and headlight mounting bracket that I'd like to sell. Don't think I'll ever want to remove the Pichler fairing. Not sure what the whole package is worth but it's really in excellent shape. It was all taken off when the bike was only a year old. Contact me if interested. UPDATE 7/02--entire assembly sold. Best offer was $655.

Bikes Owned: 3
Accessories: A small bullet fairing - looks great. Fork boots - cut down on fork seal replacements? Splitfire plugs - worth the 6.00 each? Missing the tool kit.
Modifications: none
Problems: Starts a bit hard. Have to move choke to 1st position, then turn the throttle a bit and tickle it a bit while turning it over to get started. A helmet cracked the skinny fiberglass piece along the side near the holder. May try to repair next winter.
Comments:
This is the bike I've always dreamed of owning - my midlife crisis machine (could be worse). Previous owners took good care of it, has all the maintenance records. Never dropped. Garaged. Question: Is a Dyna Ignition Boost worth the $65.00?

Comments:
Sweet running bike. I put about 500 miles per month in the high mountains. Great little ride. I also own a 2001 BMW R1100S (the R11s is not your fathers BMW!)
For Sale: I bought the bike about two years ago. I rode it awhile then over the winter I normally go completely through my bikes and pull major service while I am not able to ride. This being a new bike to me, I did a lot to it. I put on new rear shocks, as the originals were long since wasted. I put on a bikini fairing ‘cause it looks good to me – bar-end mirror too. New tires, and a battery were in order as well. The front master cylinder was a bit softer then I like so I re-built it. The oil pan gasket weeped a little so that was replaced also. When it got real cold the grease in the steering head bearing got solid so I pulled the front-end to re-pack that. Being a fan of fork boots, I ordered some as well as fork seals – if you have a front-end off, as cheap and easy a job it is, you would be crazy not to freshen them up too. In the spring I took it to local BMW shop, there is a guy there that has been working on BMWs for about a hundred years, he gave it a tune-up and declared it a solid ride (gave the grunt of approval). I originally bought the bike with the idea of putting a velorex sidecar on but haven’t had the spare $$$ to do it. I don’t really need another bike – (I have an R1100s). I have logged approx. 7000 miles on it since I got it. It is really a sweet, smooth runner. Doesn’t burn oil or have any problems. It could be ridden cross-country with no problems I believe, or just putt around town – very fuel-efficient. The guy I bought it from, said he had owed it about ten years, said it had never been wrecked. No signs of damage anywhere on the bike… it rides perfect. $2100 call 719.592.4265 / 719.684.8617 or email al_ferguson01@yahoo.com

Modifications: The bike is rebuilt from 650ccm to 840ccm by Fa Michel in Germany. The HP is not increased but the torque is. The 50 HP (37 kW) is reached by 6100 rpm. instead of 7250 rpm.
Problems: I have changed the register chain, because there was a quite hard noise on low RPM. The noise was caused by that both guiders was worn out.
Comments:
The bike is imported from Germany to Norway. This is a good way to get a cheap good bike, because "old" BMW bikes is high priced in Norway, but quite cheap in Germany. Perfect for small Norwegian roads!!

Photo: None as yet, but hope to update soon
Accessories: BMW hard panniers. Sacdem bar mounted screen. Additional small front headlight (which stays on all the time.)
Modifications: None, but I'd like to find out about a Krauser top box rack. I've also thoght about dual plugging the cylinders. Has anyone else done this?
Problems: None so far. I am dealing with some rust on the frame which is only superficial, and also cleaning the alloy.
Comments:
After a long lay off from bikes, I've found the ideal bike to enjoy. I think the R65 is great to work on, and I'm pleased it is so easy to handle. The bar mounted screen helps cut down the wind pressure, but also increases wind noise a bit.

Problems: Speedo went out after a large pothole rocked the bike really bad. I also had the trust bearing burn out after a poor adjustment. Then easily replaced it with one from an 80 r65.
Comments:
I have had 2 r65. The 79 and an 80. The 80's engine died after some kind of oil flow problem. I never actually figure out what happened. I still have my 79 and have had some great rides on it. It is out of commission for now while I do some work on it. I dont think I'll ever sell it. It's still a good bike.

Bikes Owned: 10
Accessories: Krauser Panniers,
Modifications: Hawker Odyssey Battery,Hagon Shocks, Fehling Chrome Engine Bars, from Motorworks in the UK, good guys to deal with.
Problems: Ignition coil replaced, head race bearings need replacing, (I'll get around to it some weekend soon), Other than that it's been briliant. I even crashed it into an Audi A4 and the bike looked an awful lot better than the car did. A broken indicator and reflector was the total damage my Bike sustained, but the Car was wrecked along one side. (Usual car turning across you at a junction)
Comments:
I have four Bikes at the moment: 1959 Lambretta li150, 1969 Vespa Super 125 and a 1982 race tuned Vespa PX200, (215cc ported and polished cylinder) I use the Beemer every day for work, it has never let me down and my other bikes are becoming very neglected since I bought the Beemer. It's my first proper motorbike, and whilst I still love my old scoots, I think it has changed my outlook on biking. I feel a lot safer on the Beemer, particularly having crashed it and it not sustaining any danage worth talking about. I've crashed scooters in the past and they tend to come out very badly in any collision. It's a keeper and I will probably ride it for another year or two before I buy another Beemer and retire it for a full restoration. I've driven it all over Ireland, it's a small country, but during the Summer I drove it coast to coast three times in ten days, without missing a days work. Love it, get a lot of comments from people who see it, as it looks real classic style and I keep it very clean and running right. Instant respect from non motorcyclists and motorcyclists alike. I will probably buy a Faired Beemer for more serious touring, but I can't see myself selling this old baby.
