Accessories:
New brain needed to cope with the awesome power.
Modifications:
Omrae Carbon fibre exhausts, removed all warning stickers, Suzuki steering damper, removed ridiculous chain guard cum mud thingy below numberplate. Rear carbon hugger, kickplates and front guard. Braided lines - converted to twin lines from master cylinder, transformed braking from great to awesome! Stripped paint from rims and polished.
Problems:
After reading the input to these pages, I went and had a closer look at the oil level and after 1000 km it had risen about 10mm. Not pleased with this and the surging between 3,200 and 3,900 rpm, wrote a letter to Suzuki Australia - as yet no reply received. 3/11/97 received reply from Suzuki Australia offering new '98 spec ECM to be ordered and fitted at a dealer of my choice. Noted that at 200 km/h on sweeping bends it starts to 'wallow' or corkscrew slightly but put that down to suspension settings and will play with these over the next few weeks. Still manage to get head shakes when cranked over on bumpy surfaces under hard acceleration. Crashed at a ride day on 30/11/97, lowsided on hairpin at Mallala (showing off!) took most of the panels, levers, indicators, radiator, mirror off right hand side - all up including new tyres, braided lines and carbon fibre, just under $5,000.00 (Aust).
Comments:
After the GSX-R 750, getting the power to the ground so easily and early is truly awe inspiring. The bike makes you look a better rider than you are! Despite all to doom and gloom about its handling, I believe the bike is one of the best handling, power to weight packages available and the grin factor is worth the price alone.

Common surge trouble from 3000 r.p.m.-4000 r.p.m. cured completly by new ECM. Common clutch problem is another story.First clutch was replaced after it was totally shot at around 8000 kilo`s.Second clutch only lasted 1000 kilometers. Suzuki has offered washer`s as a fix. NO THANKS!!! Have ordered barnett`s heavier springs. Cost $16.00. Part # MT-15-5. Will keep this space updated on spring cure. If this doesn`t fix the problem then anyone intrested in a free T.L. can contact me and I will supply location on lake Michigan for recovery attempts.(I should'a bought a VTR!!!)

Comments:
Absolutely the most fun bike I have ever owned. I'll take all problems (which are all fixed now) gladly, because one ride on the bike and I can't keep the grin off. I've owned lots of fun bikes (V-MAX, FZR-1000, CBR-900RR to name a few) but none even hold a candle to this.

Problems:
- Fuel Injection 'Stumble' problem which has been fixed by the replacement ECU (mostly) - Stalling when engine not properly hot (usually after decelerating) Fixed by new ECU (mostly) - Clutch Slipping when hot. Fixed by fitting new design clutch parts - Ignition fuse blowing intermittently. Caused by a wire rubbing on the underside of the fuel tank. Fixed under warranty - Paint peeling from left-rear bodywork. Gave up arguing with Suzuki Australia about this since I was getting it repainted anyway.
Comments:
I love the bike, and the problems have all been worth it, although the 'stumble' problem did make commuting through city traffic a bit of a pain! Great bike on the track. I'll be going to more track days now!

Crashed twice. Fueling at 3-4000 rpm Clutch slipping Scabby frame Suzuki unhelpfull attitude Finding a tyre that will provide enough grip that wont wear out in less than 1500 miles. My clutch now has washers to preload the springs has it was still slipping, it has cued the slip but you need 2 hands to pull the clutch in, there has to be a way around this.

Comments:
Top bike, how Suzuki could make such a dogs dinner out of the launch of what must be the best bike to come from japan for years is unbelievable. Saying that i can not stop riding the dam thing The handling takes a while to get right but then it will stay infront of most things I have experimented with quite a few different settings on the suspention and have been able to help alot of other TL riders to sort thier handling problems. Iam also just about to service another TL which has covered 15000 miles so it should be interesting to see how the engine has worn. Any one need a hand sorting a problem Iam your man.
