Modifications: Replacement ECU (new) Cured stumble. Full 22 point service at Roswell Fun Machines in Roswell, Ga. cured all problems. Engine is smoother than '92 VFR and '96 GSXR I owned.
Problems: Stumble under 4,000 RPM-now cured Stall during fast decel to stop-now cured Clutch slippage over 7,000 RPM under full throttle. Clutch repair done under warranty. Still occasionally slips. Leaking water pump through weep hole. Repair under warranty. Stiill leaks!
Comments:
I LOVE this motorcycle. Far better street machine than my modified 96 GSXR. Previously owned FJ12's and VFR. Go Suzuki. Few 1st year problems are more than compensated by the performance of this machine

Modifications: j.c.imports indigo cans for track practice i set suspension adjustments front and rear 1/4 turn in from manufacturers recommendations, for road use i reset 1/2 turn further out ie softer ride on rough aust roads
Problems: plugs packed it in at 400klms told by dealer that plug leads not long enough in caps & had to be recut (sounds like crap) fixed with new plugs cr9e. plugs packed it in again with 920 klms replaced with cr8e on recommendation of suzuki australia. said i wasnt starting it right ie not using the cold start lever at all times. now done 1450 klms 150 on racetrack & no prblems except for a hesitation at around 4k on opening throttle gives me the shits

Problems: Bike would sometimes stall when coming to a stop at idle. Turned idle up from 1000rpm to 1200rpm. Has not happened again.
Comments:
dyno run @ 112hp, same as stock but a noticeable gain in the midrange with D&D pipes (4 to 6hp from 3.5k to 8k). Will try full system and Dynojet Power Commander.

Modifications: 16 tooth countershaft sprocket -- a big improvement in gearing. All stickers removed except "TL1000s" on fairing and "Suzuki" on tank.
Problems: Mild low rpm stumble FIXED ON 8/97!! by Factory Technician through dealer. Slow weave at high speeds with Dunlop 207 tires (and damper). Stock Metzler tires turn in slower, but are more stable at speed.
Comments:
A challenging bike! Great power and acceleration, easy wheelies. Steering damper gives more confidence/control when accelerating over bumps. Waiting to get a pipe/exhaust system until the horsepower figures are in for each manufacturer, and the Dynojet ECU add-on is available to fine tune them.

Modifications: Replaced clutch and backtorque (warranty) Replaced ECU Replaced thermostat Changed to 180/55-17 rear tyre, handles better! Lowered front fork 9 mm to improve handling= good!
Problems: Clutchproblems (slipping during hard acc.), It poured oil into the airfilterbox during topspeedtests on the German "autobahn". Engine too cold under all conditions before I got the new thermostat. Still a bit too cold. Troublesome cold-start. Sudden engine-stops during breaking and idle. "Hickups" between 3000-4000 rpm, even with new ECU.
Comments:
The Suzukiimporter says it is important to keep the oil-level at the minimum-mark to avvoid over-pressure (!) Longest day-trip: Oslo-Nürburgring (1470 km) Rear shock-absorber sucks!
