Bikes Owned: 5
Accessories: None, plan double bubble screen & power commander
Modifications: ART Gold Alloy oval end cans, K&N filter.
Problems: Slight clutch slip binned synthetic oil used mineral, was a little better but came back. Had spacers fitted to clutch springs at dealer. Problem solved.Stumbling, poor idle occasional cutting out, spluttter/backfire on idle from front cylinder suspect ECU. Hoping Power Commander will fix. Right hand engine cover leaking, tried removing and sealing but no better. Bought modified part, fixed. Recently lost front end on roundabout at around 65mph minor panel damage which has been repaired but right hand bar end shiered off. Tried drilling out bolt but needs new handle bar :( damaged sexy gold can too but this saved the tank and frame from any damage so I can live with that. Dainese leathers are awsome! Walked away with stiff elbow, leathers are scuffed but fine despite 30/40 metre slide. Put crash down to cold front Metzler after being stationary for half hour My own fault not anything to do with bike.
Comments:
Awsome bike! Looks to die for, sounds the bizz and goes like a rocket powered rhino!! Riding through town never fails to turn heads. Despite recent misshap, I think the TLS is a reasonable handling bike and I have been surprised at just how far it will comfortably lean over. Changing direction can be a struggle compared to the new breed of superbike but for the road it`s fine in my opinion.

Modifications: TB Cans, 16 tooth front sprocket. Modified cowl bracket so it sits properly and doesn't wear the paint (cut & weld). K&N filter. Airbox modified
Problems: Front brake fluid reservior came loose and unscrewed without me knowing (bugger!). All the rough landings I guess. Sprayed brake fluid over speedo etc and scarred it all, bugger it!. May 2002 Clutch slipping. Discovered by pure fluke on the net that the clutch adjustment screw on the left clipon can self tighten on every turn of the front wheel!. And here I thought I'd buggered the clutch!. Jan 2003 clutch slipping again inserted 2 washers in each of the clutch bolts, fixed problem. Sept 2003 bolt holding bottom part of rotary fell out, subsequent stress cracked frame!. Ditched rotary, Ohlins front & rear now installed.
Comments:
Awesome machine. Lifting the front wheel in 1st & 2nd maybe easy, learning how to keep it up!, not easy!. Getting there, practice, practice, practice!!. For those that know "God's country", and more so the Parapara's, this machine love's it. 200km's of tight challenging stuff (Raetihi & back). Road is not your nice state highway quality either, bumps & other irregularities certainly tests the bikes character as well as mine. Although rear damper not ideal, does the job. 2nd Sept 2003 fitted ohlins front & rear gear. Amazing difference to handling. Tyre wear will be interesting.

Accessories: PRETTY WELL STANDARD, EXCEPT H/L PROTECTOR, TANK PAD, GEAR RACK.
Modifications: NONE YET. THE BIKE WAS ORIGINALLY ORANGE. I DIDN'T LIKE THE COLOUR, SO SWAPPED THE BODYWORK OFF A BLACK TLS THAT HAD ARRIVED IN STOCK. IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO MAKE OWN MUFFLERS. HAVE ACCESS TO ALL EQUIP, LATHE ETC, JUST TIME NEEDED. IF THEY WORK, WILL LET YOU KNOW. THEY SHOULD COST ABOUT $200 ALL UP. I CANT JUSTIFY HUGE $$$ FOR SLIP ONS. WELL, I TRIED TO MAKE THE PIPES BUT THEY FAILED. NOISY & RAN VERY ROUGH. OTHERWISE THE BIKE IS STILL GOING STRONG.
Problems: OIL LEAK AT TOP OF FRONT CYLINDER, A SLIGHT MISS AT 3500 RPM, KEEPING THE BLACK CLEAN. HEAVY TYRE WEAR ON ORIGINAL METZELERS.
Comments:
GREAT BIKE. AFTER RIDING A TWIN, DOUBT THAT AN INLINE 4 WOULD KEEP ME SATISFIED. FAIRLY COMFY, DONE THE ISLAND TWICE, 500/SBK 2000/2001, GREAT TRIPS. REAL GOOD ECONOMY, 45MPG ON TRIP. PILLION NOT HAPPY, TO HIGH. IF ANYONE USES THE 'S' AS A TOURER TYPE BIKE, TRY A SET OF MICHELIN MACADAMS ON THEM. 12000K & STILL GOING STRONG ON BACK. FRONT MICHIES 16000 K & REAR ABOUT SAME. REAL GOOD TYRES

Problems: Leaking fuel tank from filler drain outlet. Removed fuel pump and tank was a rusty mess inside, cleaned, sealed tank and replaced fuel filter. Still waiting for sealer to dry before filling to see if drain leak also sealed. Sealed drain outlet leak but fuel pump gasket leaking, should have bought new one. Tightened the bolts a little more and seems OK now.
