Bikes Owned: 3
Accessories: A tank bra, Zero Gravity Double Bubble windscreen, and Blue crystal head lights. K&N air filter. Two Brothers(2into1)pipe, yosh re-map, GoodRidge steel brake lines, front and rear. EBC HH pads up front
Modifications: New Perelli GTS tires. Shimmed the clutch springs to fix the problem of clutch slippage. Acceleration is now as crisp as before! Removed the mirrors, turn signals and trimmed the rear fender.
Problems: Clutch went south on me while doing a burn out. My new problem was leaking oil from the clutch cover. That little o-ring is a pc. of shit! I've replaced it twice, because it streches out of shape. I discovered YAMABOND-6B! I took the o-ring out all together, applied it ti the cover, replaced the bolts not fully tight, allowed it to dry then tighted the bolts the rest of the way. WAALAA! instant o-ring. Bad news!! My original frame split, 6" behing the steering head, from the bottom where the radiator connects.
Comments:
This is an absolutely kick ass bike !!! the instant throttle response (and I don't have that soft spot in the 4000 rpm range) is amazing. It really makes it hard to get back on my 600.

Modifications: Ohlins rear shock,Progressive front springs, steering damper mod as suggested by Mark Cunningham (drilled the piston and refilled with 10w. fork oil)- plus forks dropped through 9mm,flapper valve disconnected,Re-mapped with Yosh-Box (124.5 bhp),JB Racing Timing Retard Eliminator,40 tooth rear sprocket.
Problems: Rotary damper bolts sheared - good job too, convinced me to buy Ohlins! Dropped the bastard on black ice. Valve clearances need checking more often than the manual suggests.Chain tension needs careful setting up, as needs to run a bit slack or it will lock up the rear.
Comments:
Rennsports and suspension mods work well on the road and track though still have ground clearance issues with the Raask rearsets(should have bought adjustable ones!)jury's out about the 40 tooth sprocket,(great on the track, not sure about on the road)may go back to standard gearing if I can find a way to get more grunt without blowing the engine.Gotta do something though, pesky R1's, Blades,G1's etc. bugger off on the straights!Oh and bollocks to M.C.N. and their sister publications, after slating the TL's out of production, they're suddenly saying what great buys they now are. All new big bikes are capable of slapping - Suzuki were just ahead of their time!

Accessories: Remus Grand Prix Carbon Race Cans; Hyperpro Steering damper - what a difference! K&N Air Filter.
Modifications: After 4000 miles, new MEZ3 Racing Tyres Front and Rear. Replaced them with another set at 11000 but track day use means I need new ones after 1000 further miles!!!. Latest tyre choice is Bridgestone BT-010s. Rear tyre now a 180, much better drop into corners, more neutral - doesn't feel like it wants to go straight on when trying to get leaned over into corners
Problems: Recalls: Suzuki factory steering damper, new thermostat and ECU, tank/fuel pump. Under warranty: oil level lowered, couple of engine gaskets and heavier clutch springs. The clutch used to slip under hard acceleration over 90-100mph. Suzuki suggested that the oil level was lowered to 3.1 litres. Checked oil level, not that. After complaining to my dealer, Suzuki have decided to put in heavier clutch springs. Clutch still slips if ridden hard enough.
Comments:
I love it. Too big a bike for most Scottish roads, but the local riders worship it!

Accessories: 10/15/99 - Pit bull stand. It is great! Sturdy and easy to use. Should have got it sooner! Also stuck a digital watch to the steering head so I could see how late I was going to be.
Modifications: 10/15/99 - Added a wire tie to hold the clutch adjustment in place. It seemed it was moving ever time I went lock to lock. Got the M4 bolts-ons and a K&N filter. Makes the front wheel come up about 1500 rpm lower than it used too.
Problems: Leaks around the clutch cover when the coolant temperature gets around 190F. Don't want to quit riding it. 10/15/99 - The dealer fixed added some extra seal around the clutch cover so it does not leak anymore. Had the left radiator bolt fall out. Fuel mileage really sucks. On an average I have got 29 MPG. This is total over the intire ownership. Of course most of my rides are not highway trips.
Comments:
Stumbles are annoying but getting used to it. It is cold blooded! Need to let it warm up for a bit more than usual in the cooler weather. 10/12-The tires won't last very long at all! The rear has worn considerably.

Accessories: Two Bros Alloy cans
Modifications: some chips in paint and odometer reading always being upgraded.
Problems: Frame broken at rear damper mount. A serious dangerous problem that Suzuki appear to want to keep in low profile. See this link for a group of owners with this specific problem, and be warned - some of the reading is pretty depressing. Be sure to join the group (and update the spreadsheet on their database) if you've had this prob as it helps others trying to get Suzuki to do the right thing! Go here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/crackedframe/
Comments:
A great, exciting machine that just needed a bit more development to really confirm it as a design classic. Beautiful organic curves unlike the current machete styling methods. A Mike Tyson engine that sets the blood on the move. A real pity Suzuki dropped it and ran from the bad press. New SV1000 not as sexy.

Accessories: See below - no carbon fibre mirror covers here!
Modifications: All mods for race track. Removal of all road gear. MFW rearsets - got these new for 60 quid from a guy who couldn't fit them. Top quality items for road but hinged footrests may not protect bike as well as solids when on the track. 18/43 sprockets with 520 chain conversion (race spec) - lowers gearing and takes the chain run away from the swinging arm - increased chain tangent should help anti-squat characteristics ??? Will keep updated. White Power steering damper kit (from cyl. head). Hyperpro race rear shock and linkage (see www.hyperpro.com). Translogic Systems quickshifter and gear display unit (very trick and top quality) - see www.translogicsystems.com. Race bodywork from Extreme performance. Akrapovic high level 2:2 system with lightweight Quill titanium cans. Maxton front fork conversion. Power Comander and TRE mod - to be dynoed soon. PFM 6 pot calipers and narrow track iron discs with Bendix pads and "Braking" wavey rear disk (ISR caliper soon). "Vee Two" racing cams just fitted (runs like shite - needs dyno)
Problems: Quickshifter causes fuel injection error codes - anyone know how the disable FI errors? May fit Techtronics race dash soon to overcome FI overwriting temp guage.
Comments:
I will comment on handling mods in near future - thanks to everyone for their ideas. Although a lot of conflicting opinions on how to sort it. Update - Hyperpro rear damper and linkage from Pro V Twins - see web site for pics. Best result this year - second in novice race at Cadwell. Thanks again to everyone for advice. Photos at web site including Hyperpro rear unit.

Modifications: K&N Filtercharger, D&D carbon/fiber slip-on's. polished stock cans, disconnected flapper valve in airbox, going to get a re-programmed ECU from Jason Thurman, will update on how it works. GOOD JOB Jason!!! With the Yosh tuned ECU, the bike is civilized and still powerful. The 3-4k stumbles are all but a memory, throttle transition is much smoother although mpg is down a bit. Thanks Jason!
Problems: minor setup issues (coolant leak, was loose clamp) oil weeping somewhere between rear of front cam cover and throttle body...FOUND OIL LEAK...Loose compression clamp on manifold to throttle body connection. suffers from typical v-twin anomoly....oil in air box, other than than that, bike runs groovy. Stuck choke cable required lubrication, completely frozen.
Comments:
rear tire is pretty shot at 4300 miles, mounted Bridgestone BT-56ss....love 'em. Very cheap help for stumbling, pull vacumn hose that actuates flapper valve...this leaves it open all the time, smoothes out the stumbles a bit, be sure to cap off the port to the throttle body.
