Accessories: Megacycle carbon cans. Sounds great. Neighbours now hate me ! Canyon Carbon fibre tank guard.
Modifications: Removed plastic back hoe. UGLY ! What were they thinking ? Factory suspension settings were too soft even though I'm only 77 kgs. Stiffened front and rear and handles much better, though not as inspiring as my old ZX-7. Much more fun though. 16 tooth front sprocket.Dark tinted screen, suits the black.
Problems: Suffers a little clutch slip but improves with fresh oil. All recalls performed and as yet no majors.Front wheel needs to be heavier, ha ha.The infamous cam chain tick. Any remedies ? Crap fuel mileage.
Comments:
The noise, the performance and the look is what I've been after for years. The most fun I've had on two wheels. Who wants an R1 ?

Modifications: Cut off ugly tail-fender. Installed 1999 Ford F-350 Dually Marker lights in the tailsection to use as turn signals....Bright, and visible from all sides, yet red color blends beautifully with red paint..... Many compliments
Problems: Water Pump leakage through the breather hole, Clutch slippage, the usual....... All easily fixed. Replaced mechanical seal, so leak is fixed. Replaced clutch engaging springs for a set of Barnett springs. The thing grabs and stays locked to the plate as if it were welded. My Biggest problem to date was that darned stumbling between the 3-4500 rpm ranges. Tried everything: Leakdown testing, throttle-body synchronizing, PCII mapping…..Turned out to be bad throttle bodies! Replaced, then remapped ECM with Yoshimura Black Box. Songs of Sweet Delight are now what the RS-3's sing. Damn thing runs like a bat out of hell. Happy Happy Happy! But now, I have to sell L You interested?

Accessories: LP Smoke screen, numerous billet/anodized parts, grips, 110/100W PIAA super white bulbs (draws same current as 60/55W's,) added Raybrig hyper halogen 35/5W tail light bulbs.
Modifications: Full Yosh. race pipes (bit loud for a commuter bike,) removed all stickers and reflectors, cut off grab handle/bungee hooks and helmet holders, Yosh. carbon fiber front fender (not recommended,) small carbon look signals, trick kit, additional clean up of rear fender, Goodridge kevlar (2) line kit, removed afterthought steering damper, installed K&N, remapped ECU. Added quick release pins from Intuit where tank bolts used to be. Modified airbox lid, removed flapper valve, etc. Placed three 3/16 flat washers under each quick release pin to raise tank slightly. SRAD under the tank?? Removed mirrors, secured fairing stay to fairing with zip-ties. Changed cotter pin out on rear axle for R-clip, painted fairing stay gloss black and bars under passenger seat flat black. Removed chain guard and ground off the mounts. Installed aluminum rear sprocket drilled ultralight by Sprocket Specialists and 16 tooth counter shaft sprocket.
Problems: Bike is totaled!! CYCLE SPORTS Iwilei (the best shop on the island,) actually made the TL's quarks bearable and enjoyable by their service. I can't express enough how much I appreciate all of the things that Stafford has done for me. One of the men who works there was mentioned in the Nov. issue of Motor Cyclist. Great group of people.
Comments:
Keep those dampers on, or buy proper replacements. It was stable for me for months, but it just took that one time that it wasn't. More deathstyle than lifestyle, "We don't just live and breath bikes we kill and eat them too..."
For Sale: My 98 was claimed by my ins. company and is/was being sold for scrap at auction. All parts were sold (cheap as promised.) Enjoy them Don. Finances, injuries, and nerves will allow for another bike in the next few weeks.

Modifications: I am going to get the Heli aftermarket handlebars. I'll also be replacing the air filter with a K&N filter. My RF600 went from 200 km / tank to 260 / tank with the filter installed properly.
Problems: Bars too low. Much, much too low even for me (6'4") Engine is very buzzy above 6000 RPM, but I guess it comes with being a V-twin. Bike is not smooth. Feels like I need the ECU upgrade, which is confusing because mine is a '99 model, not the '97.

Problems: Left hand fork seal weeps oil. Clutch cover oil leak - solved.
Comments:
The Power Commander unit in combination with the race cans/K&N's provides even quicker throttle response and smoother power delivery to what was already a very quick bike. The TLS will be rightly remembered as a classic bike.

Awesome bike. This is my 2nd TL. The first one I crashed it on the 97/10/29. So I had to buy another TL, because I love this amazing bike. The engine is a wonderfull and the suspension/hand- ling with some changes I think is good too. What a sound with the Yoshi. I traded it for Suzuki GSXR750i, much better motorcycle.

Location: USA (California) -- Alameda,Ca
Accessories: Tank Bra by LP, Micron C-F slip on race silencers. Sharkskinz full bodywork on order with the race front fairing upper, as I hope to mount a PIAA for a headlamp, for a different look, and to cut the cost of a get-off should I happen to have one. The bike will be yellow, now just need a full tank bra for the bike in yellow to match. Forget the tank Bra- not good for paint. Bike is now full body work Sharkskinz in Yellow with white number plates.
Modifications: M4 2 into 1 with the race baffle, also have a stock silencer with an adapter to allow for silent running. Fren Tubo Kevlar front brake lines. Removed front turn signals, as they are a pain to remove for repeated track days. Removed California charcoal canister. Cut out rear fender. Lindemann suspension. Have the Ohlins on order for the rear. WER steering damper. Ride height adjuster.
Problems: Piece of SHIT bike. At 5500 miles, the bike began dropping out of gear (2nd and 3rd mostly) upo tear down, cylinders were scored badly, pistons as well, not to mention the gears that were worn. Never missed a shift either. After reassembly with JE pistons, bike is now drinking oil like a thirsty camel. FUCK! Need a new motor, or may try this one again. Only 1000 miles since the rebuild. WTF!!! It will not idle either, but that could be related to the engine condition as well.
Comments:
Will NEVER buy another Suzuki. However, I do love the bike when it is running right. Fun for holigan antics (so i am told!)
For Sale: Bike is for sale should anyone want it. Or else if you have a motor for sale, then I might keep it.

Accessories: Carbon hugger, carbon look belly pan, Ventura luggage system (only on bike for Dutch, German etc WSB rounds) Rear number plate very small and positioned high up 6" x 3" and the crappy plastic rear mudguard type assembly has been cut off level with the indicators. This gives a very mean looking rear end especially with the high level cans.
Modifications: Ohlins rear shock, Ohlins steering damper across the tank (916 style) from Harris, Harris rear sets,Ohlins fork springs, Scorpion high level stainless steel system with polished aluminium Scorpion race cans. EBC brake pads (greens). Forks dropped 10mm through yokes to speed up steering. BT 56ss tyre for the rear, and BT56ss on the front.
Problems: Recalls done for the leaking fuel tank and the replacement ECU.
Comments:
Excellent bike, with the handling nearly sorted out. Ohlins fork springs fitted. Enough power for anyone who likes the 'B' roads and is'nt too bothered about 150mph plus on the Motorways. Would like to get the confidence back into the front end that you get from a 916 or similar. Anyone got any magical ideas that I havent yet tried, perhaps tyres or geometry changes, ie is 10mm drop on the forks enough or is it too much? Finally, has anyone got any experience of the POWER COMMANDER thinggys? What do they do and how much do they cost? Comments from the USA riders would be appreciated in respect of price as you appear to get things a lot cheeper than we do.P.S. added 7/5/99, just fitted Bridgestond BT56SS to the front. Absolutely brilliant & well worth a try. Now, due to circumstances completely within my control the bike has been sold. The sad day was in August 1999. RIP TL. However, I now have (as of May 2000) a Ducati 916. OK so I can't play on this excellent registry anymore, but I now know that you can't get the same kind of front end confidence and feedback from a TL that you get from a 916. However, I will miss that kick in the butt power that the TL gave P.S. if any of you owners out there want the high level exhaust system I think Scorpion now do them for general sale.
