Fuses changed to blade type. Wiring sorted. T-Kat fork brace to be fitted soon (when I get organised!)

Problems:
Rectifier went up in smoke when it was started - someone had mucked with the wiring and fed the power from the ignition straight to the rectifier. Lucky it didn't go up in flames - quick thinking by a mate saved it. Despite being cosmetically good, it was in sad condition internally - rust in the carbies, stuffed diaphragms, stuffed UJ, clogged air filter - a good service and some swapped parts sorted that out. The starter button fell out on a recent trip, the bike died a few times but could be push-started and the starter motor is now also inoperative - solenoid possibly? A trip to the auto sparky as soon as I get the starter button replaced.

Comments:
Purchased on eBay. It was fitted with a CB900 fairing and Krauser panniers at that time. Looked good but the fairing was too low (lots of buffeting) and the panniers went to allow the towbar to be fitted (same mounting point). The Vetter is great to ride behind, very smooth.

Problems:
Mufflers are both rusted through, but not badly; cam chain tensioner leaks a few drops, it's going to need a clutch pretty soon too. But for $1000 this is a very impressive machine! At least I'm impressed.

Comments:
I bought this primarily because it was very nice looking, paint, chrome, etc. and also because it was a huge, smooth, powerful, macho full dress tourer. My girlfriend is finally comfortable and actually wants to ride with me now. Few bikes I have owned have had Harley owners waving (who cares anyway), but these XS1100's have quite some personality, eh??

I first bought this thing disassembled for $275 with only the guys word that it ran and that everything in the boxes was there. Two days later, everything the guy told me was confirmed TRUE. Its currently running and has packed on over 500 miles in the past 3 weeks. Bike was crashed back in June of 2011. Exhaust and Frame were broken. Bike was sold via craigslist to a locate Arizonian who had the intentions of rebuilding it. Still ran when sold. No Trans issues at the time of sale. Bike was sold in crashed condition for $300.
