Any ideas on treating this problem other than fitting unleaded seats????

Owner: Ronan Murphy
Email to Ronan Murphy
Location: USA (NorthWest) -- Mukilteo WA
Experience: 8 years
Bikes Owned: 2
Accessories: Sport faring, Brown sidestand (a must, get one if you don't have one!)
Modifications: I wanted this little R65 to show its heritage. Originally brown with an orange pinstripe, scratched and dented, it has been repainted with classic looks, black with double white pinstripe. The seat has been altered, also black with white pinstripe. Result, timeless BMW look, very nice. Electronic ignition - Boyer Bradson, from Motobins.
Problems: Cracked solder connections at insertion on wiring harness into instrument cluster caused a charging problem that was a nightmare to diagnose. Once I found the problem, and re-soldered the pins, very reliable. Blown crankcase breather valve (common) - fixed when I had the top end done a few years back. Had crack in rear gearbox plate - seems the speedomoter gear jumped a tooth at some time. Rebuilt the gearbox, put in new plate and seals. The timing advance mechanism died at 44kmiles. It was easier, and cheaper to replace it with electronic ignition - now bike feels more powerful, and accelerates better, thanks Boyer Bradson!
Comments:
Bike was sold in 2005 theough Ride West BMW. I'm keeping it on the registry for good measure. (If the current owner reads this and wants to take over the listing just e-mail me.)

Problems: Nothing major. Getting the carbies nicely balanced, speedo trip metre working, dicky battery & some minor electrics etc.
Comments:
Although I am the 4th owner this bike has been well loved & looked after. It's the mono shock model and is a delight to ride. Would like to put a genuine BMW high bar on it for touring if anyone in Oz has one for sale. Makes an interesting contrast to my other bike - 1964 Triumph 650 TR6C (desert racer) - restored.
For Sale: Sold & will be missed.
